Error 720 Windows 10
Sign in to vote I manage the network for a small non-profit. The organization officers, and I, are error 720 no ppp protocols configured authorized to connect remotely to the office computer using a PPTP VPN. Until last month I had this all working: the office computer was WinXP Pro, I had another XP https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/122748 computer and a Vista laptop, others had other computers including some Win7 release candidates. And everybody could connect. Trouble was, they were all connecting to the same userid, using a shared password; very bad juju. All these systems have now been upgraded to Windows 7, and I can't get the PPTP VPN to work. I want to set it up so https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/eb37b71e-a021-47ee-896e-186cef55bf11/pptp-vpn-on-windows-7-error-720?forum=w7itpronetworking everybody who needs to use the VPN has a user account with a password on the office computer, and all those user accounts are authorized to use the incoming connection, which I set up according to the instructions shown in various forums I've found. I want everybody to dial into the VPN using their own userids and passwords. The VPN setup is pretty much the same as in XP! I've done this before and got it working. But, using my own account on the office computer as a sample, I keep getting "error 720" when I try to connec, "unable to connect." Can anybody suggest what I may be doing wrong? Also, the default on the outbound VPN connection on my Win7 desktop is to connect using SSTP - I can't use that without reconfiguring my router which is only set up to accept PPTP and L2TP. Where can I find out what ports SSTP uses? I've chosen the PPTP option but it still doesn't connect. (Just to annoy me more, the office computer is on Win7 Release Candida
connection, it went like this: - Modem would pick up the phone and dial. - Carrier sounds http://en.remontka.pro/error-720-windows-8-and-8-1-solved/ / handshaking would occur. - Username and password were checked and verified. - Then it would disconnect with an error error 720 code of "720" More on the message: Error 720 - the connection attempt failed because your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control protocol. I had tried every fix I could find. Removing the Winsock no ppp control and Winsock2 keys, re-installing TCP/IP, and running a series of commands using the "netsh" tool. None of that worked. What seemed to work: "WAN Miniport (IP)" seemed to be messed up some how. It was listed twice in Device Manager. I had to remove the keys for the two entries from the registry, then I could remove the devices from Device Manager. I had to use the "devcon" command to re-install the "WAN Miniport (IP)" device. The command to restore the WAN Miniport (IP) device was: devcon.exe install %windir%\inf\netrasa.inf MS_NdisWanIp You can get DEVCON.EXE (32-bit and 64-bit) from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272/ You can get more info on this from here: http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread18016.html Home Log in Copyright © 1999-2016 XdN
to write this manual so that you can understand what to do. Guess I found a way to fix that 720 error in Windows 8 (also works in Win 8.1). Hope it will help you. So, the error shows itself when you try to establish some kind of Internet connection — PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, etc. Sure, you have already searched for the right way to fix the error and definetely tried the commands: netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log And they didn't work, saying the access is denied. So, here are the steps you may follow to reset TCP/IP protocol in windows 8 and fix the 720 error: Download Process Explorer from Windows Sysinternals website: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us//sysinternals/bb896645.aspx Unzip and run it. Uncheck all operations, but the windows registry ones. Add two Filters from the Filter menu in Process Explorer. The First one should include process named netsh.exe, and the second — the result "ACCESS DENIED" (I used capital letters, not sure if it is necessary) Press Windows + X buttons on your keyboard and run Command Line as Administrator. Run the netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log command. It will not be able to complete all the necessary actions to reset the IPv4 protocol, but you will see a line in process explorer, telling you which parameter in windows registry failed to change. Press Windows + R buttons, type regedit to run registry editor. Navigate to the registry key from process monitor, click it with the right mouse button and select "Permissions". Set it to "Full Access", then click Ok. Repeat that netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log command. It will now work well. Repeat steps 5-7 with netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log command. Run netsh winsock reset command in coomand line. Restart your computer That's it, the error 720 shouldn't appear any more.
