Needs more details. A lot more details. And may be more suitable for SuperUser anyhow... doesn't seem like it's a professional admin problem, at least as described. –HopelessN00b Dec 29 '12 at 0:40 thanks HopelssN00b, I'm not sure what info to provide that will be most helpful, if you let me know what info you need I can try and provide it. I'm happy to move to super user if that will be more appropriate. –campo Dec 29 '12 at 1:13 I don't know either, but look at what you have provided us - basically that a bunch of your PTPP VPNs throw a 720 error when you use W

Remote Desktop connections work perfectly, but when you try to use a VPN (SSTP) connection it makes it to the final connection stage and then fails with error 720. https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/69428-resolve-vpn-error-720-anywhere-access-connection-issue-on-windows-server-2012-essentials In the Server logs you see Event ID 20253 "The user connected to port VPN has been disconnected because no network protocols were successfully negotiated." IPCONFIG /all reveals that the PPP http://www.howtonetworking.com/vpnissues/error720.htm Adapter RAS has a internal 169.x.x.x IP. Additional Symptoms: You used static or reserved DHCP on your router or firewall DHCP server to set the Server's IP (to ensure that the Server error 720 kept the same address and that no other device tried to also use that address.) Overview: It's clear that you just need the PPP Adapter to get a valid IP so that it can properly DHCP relay VPN clients onto your domain network. But it should be working out of the box and mucking around in the RRAS configurations on an Essentials server is error 720 a a risky idea because you're likely to unwittingly break something else. The Essentials servers use a nonstandard RRAS configuration for Anywhere Access to accommodate running your DHCP role on a standard router or firewall instead of the server. So normal fixes you might find don't apply and after poking around a bunch it turns out the issue is not really on the Server itself. Problem: The reserved DHCP setting on your router binds the IP to the MAC address you set. The PPP RAS adapter need for the DHCP relay uses the exact same MAC address as your Server's NIC. Meaning that with the Reserved DHCP setting your router's DHCP server will refuse to give out any IPs, other than the single IP you reserved for your server, so your PPP RAS adapter can't get the range of IPs it needs to relay to VPN clients. Solution: You must remove the static DHCP IP you reserved for your server from your routers DHCP server settings. After you remove the IP reservation a server reboot will allow the PPP RAS adapter to get an IP address from your routers D

Resolution: 1) make sure both RAS server and client have the correct protocol setup. 2) make sure the NetBIOS interface has being installed and the NetBIOS binding has being enabled. The NetBIOS interface is required for establishing logical names and sessions on the network for Windows NT/9x/ME.
