I have contacted my isp, and the issue apprears to be on my end, not theirs Additionally in my network adapters: you can see the yellow-marked adapters in this screenshot http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x374/K29000/network_adapters.jpg have errors: Windows error 720 cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I am not sure if that is related to my dial-up problem. They all seem to be duplicates of network adapters that are working fine. (Except they say "eacfilt miniport" at the end) I have tried uninstalling these duplicates which I think are leftovers from some other software that I may have had installed at some point(It says the error 720 windows vendor is Nortel but I no longer have any Nortel software on this machine), but they will not remove. I can still connect to the internet fine via a usb 3G modem that I have borrowed. Although, when I do it gives me a message that "another computer on the network has the same IP address as this one" but after closing the message, the internet still works fine. I have been unable to check whether the ethernet and wifi works correctly. The last time I used them was about a year ago. I'm on Vista Business 32 bit SP3.
