to write this manual so that you can understand what to do. Guess I found a way to fix that 720 error in Windows 8 (also works in Win 8.1). Hope it will help you. So, the error error 720 a connection to the remote computer windows 8 shows itself when you try to establish some kind of Internet connection — PPPoE, PPTP, error 720 windows 8 dial up L2TP, etc. Sure, you have already searched for the right way to fix the error and definetely tried the commands: netsh int meraki vpn error 720 ipv4 reset reset.log netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log And they didn't work, saying the access is denied. So, here are the steps you may follow to reset TCP/IP protocol in windows 8 and fix the 720 error: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25245854/windows-8-1-gets-error-720-on-connect-vpn Download Process Explorer from Windows Sysinternals website: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us//sysinternals/bb896645.aspx Unzip and run it. Uncheck all operations, but the windows registry ones. Add two Filters from the Filter menu in Process Explorer. The First one should include process named netsh.exe, and the second — the result "ACCESS DENIED" (I used capital letters, not sure if it is necessary) Press Windows + X buttons on your keyboard and run Command Line as Administrator. Run the netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log http://en.remontka.pro/error-720-windows-8-and-8-1-solved/ command. It will not be able to complete all the necessary actions to reset the IPv4 protocol, but you will see a line in process explorer, telling you which parameter in windows registry failed to change. Press Windows + R buttons, type regedit to run registry editor. Navigate to the registry key from process monitor, click it with the right mouse button and select "Permissions". Set it to "Full Access", then click Ok. Repeat that netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log command. It will now work well. Repeat steps 5-7 with netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log command. Run netsh winsock reset command in coomand line. Restart your computer That's it, the error 720 shouldn't appear any more. This problem seem to be only with Win8 and 8.1 users. Once the message appears, a VPN connection cannot be established until a repair is made. The problem (cause not fully known) https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/65878-correct-a-vpn-720-error-in-windows-8-and-8-1 is in the WAN Mini-Ports. The solution is to remove the WAN Mini-Ports and https://computerrz.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/how-to-fix-720-error-in-windows-8-and-8-1/ allow Windows to recreate them. Removing the WAN Mini-Ports can be a chore, but there is a utility that has made this a quick and easy process for me. I've now used it on many of my clients computers without issue. The utilities are at this site: https://www.vpnhosting.cz/index.php/clanky/wan-miniport-repair-tool-solve-vpn-and-dial-up-error-code-720-and-similar-ppperrors.html Run the appropriate repair tool, reboot, run the appropriate install error 720 tool. Problem solved. 2 Comments Cayenne PeterB123 Jan 24, 2014 at 08:17pm I had similar problems with 8.1 Pro clients when connecting to PPTP and IPSec Windows server hosted VPNs, and it may not be your issue, but I had to turn off the Automatic negotiation (assuming you're using the Windows VPN client) and specify the type, encryption, etc. matching what I was accepting on the Windows server side.
