Removing the WAN Mini-Ports can be a chore, but there is a utility that has made this a quick and easy process for me. I've now used it on many of my clients computers without issue. The utilities are at this site: https://www.vpnhosting.cz/index.php/clanky/wan-miniport-repair-tool-solve-vpn-and-dial-up-error-code-720-and-similar-ppperrors.html Run the appropriate repair tool, reboot, run the appropriate install tool. Problem solved. 2 Comments Cayenne PeterB123 Jan 24, 2014 at 08:17pm I had similar problems with 8.1 Pro clients when connecting to PPTP and IPSec Windows server hosted VPNs, and it may not be your issue, but I had to turn off the Automatic negotiation (assuming you're using the Windows VPN client) and specify the type, encryption, etc. matching what I was accepting on the Windows server side.
