neo_tech Thread Starter Joined: Apr 3, 2005 Messages: 31 Hi everyone, am having problem with my modem for last error 777 failure operating system 4 months due to which am unable to connect through my dialup account. whenever i dial my isps no. it gives that connecting tone and when after that tone it has to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/318009 connect to the isp server it just stops there and stays idle...i have to w8 for around 40-45 seconds after which my modem gives the 'Error 777: The connection attempt failed because the modem or other connecting device on the remote computer is out of order.' i have tried reinstalling the modem drivers(the default one given in windows that i have been using for https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-modem-error-777-please-help.349823/ last 15 years ), tried dialing to different ISPs but no use, still the same problem. It certainly is good oil. Yes neo what I usually find with these kinds of problems is that some obscure thing happens and you might have reinstalled the modem. (multiple times) If that has happened entering the control panel > systerm > device manager, and having a look at the modem to ensure there is only one listed and showing that it indicates the device is working properly. Then have a look in control panel > system > modems applet and there should be something in that applet along the lines of diagnostics. If things don't look correct delete all the modem items in the device manager and reboo
For the last few weeks I have been getting an error message "Error 777: The Connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order" while connecting to Internet. I use Huawei Access http://www.corenetworkz.com/2011/06/error-777-connection-attempt-failed-due.html Manager to connect to the Internet because the modem provided by Tata Photon Plus is from Huawei . Mainly the issue occurs in evening (that means the peak time) and the error message prompt me to either redial http://modemsite.com/56k/duns777.asp to connect to the Internet or cancel. Here I would like to share the major reasons of "Error 777: The Connection attempt failed" and its possible solutions. After few attempts I would be able to go online error 777 but in some worse cases I waited hours to get rid of the error.I took the screenshot of the error message.Reasons for Error 777 :The Connection Attempt failedThe possible reasons for Error 777:The Connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order" are:1. Usage of incorrect driver for your modem2. The number dialed by your modem is blacklisted3. Outdated driver for modemIn addition to the above mentioned error 777 dial reasons, I am getting this error message only in peak time. So I assume, the network usage can also be a factor but I am not sure.Solution for Error 777 :The Connection Attempt failedThe major reason for "Error 777: The Connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order" is faulty modem driver. However, in my experience just restarting the computer itself fixed this issue. So here I would like to share a practical guide to fix this error message.1. Unplug the modem and reconnect (If you are using USB modem or external modem )2. Restart your computer3. Update the driver4. Uninstall the current modem and reinstall it with latest driver available. If the issue persist, it is avised to contact your ISP to fix it.Technology Blog Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Labels: Internet Connectivity Issues at 4:15 AM Posted by Alex George 4 comments: arora said... i m still facing the same issue, after applying several attempts. 9:34 AM Admin said... If you are still getting the error code 777 with remote computer out of order message even after following all the steps mentioned in this article, the issue might be at ISP end. I recommend you to contact technical support of your ISP to resolve the issue. 5:24 AM Anonymous said... got
777 - The connection attempt failed because the modem (or other connecting device) on the remote computer is out of order. This error cannot occur with Windows 95/98 or NT - only with Windows Me or 2K. This error can occur if you have installed your modem with an incorrect driver. Identify your modem chipset, PCI ID, manufacturer, and make sure you are using the correct driver. If you get this error, the modem or DUNS may not be installed or set-up properly. See if you can talk to your modem with Hyperterminal setup as described here - if you can, inspect/re-install DUNs; if you cannot, the modem needs to be re-installed. In some cases, a simple cold-boot (shut down - power off - re-start) may solve the problem. This error may also occur if the number you are dialing is blacklisted. Many PCI modems include an entry in Windows' ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS (from Control Panel or System): it is important to remove any installed modems using this remove function to properly update the registry. In some cases where the modem has been installed more than once with different driver versions without proper removal, the registry may be corrupted: if this is the case, only manual editing, restore from backup, or re-installation of Windows may cure the trouble. Also note: In many cases, PCI modems will not operate in all of your PCI slots - see this page. Also see: Forum56 Post regarding HP-supplied modem and error 777.
