Also affects distribution/package Nominate for series Bug Description Binary package hint: mrtg On current Lucid, on every reboot I get the following error from mrtg: 2010-03-23 13:15:37: ERROR: Creating templock /var/lock/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg_l_1770: No such file or directory at /usr/bin/mrtg line 1833. followed by: 2010-03-23 13:05:11: ERROR: I guess another mrtg is running. A lockfile (/var/lock/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg_l) aged 263 seconds is https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/545250 hanging around. If you are sure that no other mrtg is running you can remove the lockfile followed by: 2010-03-23 13:20:08: ERROR: Creating templock /var/lock/mrtg/_etc_mrtg.cfg_l_2934: No such file or directory at /usr/bin/mrtg line 1833. Upon inspection, clearly the problem is that /var/lock/mrtg does not exist: # ls -l /var/lock/ total 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 www-data root 40 2010-03-23 13:16 apache2 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 19 2010-03-23 13:16 LCK..ttyS1 drwxr-xr-x 2 logcheck logcheck 40 2010-03-23 13:21 logcheck drwx------ 2 root root 40 2010-03-23 13:16 lvm and indeed, creating it keeps mrtg happy: # mkdir /var/lock/mrtg/ Presumably this is something that the mrtg package needs to be doing on each reboot.
