In the last few weeks I've noticed that my website (which includes a Blog) has suddenly started to take up almost all of my available webspace. On looking at mysql error logs the files using C Panel, the culprit appears to be an 8.2Gig "error_log". I have no idea why in the last month this has accumulated such a huge number of errors (however my website has been extremely busy in the last few weeks, in terms of visitor numbers). My priority right now is to clear out the error-log to free up some much-needed web space. In my C Panel this error_log file is here: public.html>blog>error_log My first instinct was just to highlight it and then hit the red X (delete) key on the top menu bar, however I don't think I should be deleting a file, just the contents (ie thousands of error entries)? I have no idea of how to access the contents of the error_log in order to clean it out. I am feeling a bit desperate, so any help will be appreciated. I will add that I am a website owner, not a Webmaster, and I'm afraid I am a novice so a plain English explanation will be appreciated. I have attached a picture of what I am seeing when I look in my file directory on CPanel. #1 Lindsay D, Nov 29, 2013 Lindsay D Member Joined: Nov 29, 2013 Messages: 17 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 1 Location: West Sussex, England cPanel Access Level: Website Owner Re: Deleting Error Logs from C Panel Incidentally, goin

Can't seem to find an answer to this delete error log anywhere... sql-server error-log share|improve this question asked Oct 29 '14 at 14:36 tuseau 5454916 Thanks all for the help. –tuseau Oct 29 '14 at 15:10 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 16 down vote accepted There is a setting if you right click on "SQL Server Logs" and select "Configure". You can tell it how many log files you want to keep. Once it reaches that number it will start removing the old ones. share|improve this answer answered Oct 29 '14 at 14:43 Kenneth Fisher 16.7k53070 add a comment| up vote 8 down vote Restart SQL Server 7 times. You will see you still have only 7 ERRORLOG* files (depending on version). This is the current log file and the 6 most recent log files. Note: You may need to change 7 to something else, in the event you changed the number of error logs SQL Server keeps. The max, I believe, is 99. But no matter what your current setting is, it will eventually recycle and purge old files. I tested this and, if you uncheck the box that says: ☐ Limit the number of error log files before they are recycled ...which implies (at least to me
