For more information about using Outlook and Terminal Server, see Knowledge Base article 826488. As far as i know i do not connect to a terminal server. My laptop is not a workstation, it connects directly to the internet through a router at my house. The error message only has an ok button and when you click it shuts down outlook. In the past i have used http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/when-starting-outlook-error-unable-to-open-your-default-e-mail-fol.2317718/ outlook express to manage my email so i'm not sure if that may be effecting something. Any sugestions on how to remidy this and start the setup wizard like it does on every other computer it's installed on? Outlook errors looking for outlook.ost twincers Apr 15, 2010 3:29 PM Hello all, I am pretty new to VMware fusion so please bear with me. I think this is a http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800436782/printable.htm Fusion-resolved situation although I am sure it is possible the problem is outlook (or chair to key error). I am running VMWare Fusion 3 with a Windows XP Professional as a guest. I error outlook have 4 GB of memory and 2.5 alloted to the Mac and 1.5 alloted to the windows guest.I am running just a few applications on the guest, one of which is Outlook 7. This morning when I attempted to start outlook (after a reboot of the entire system) I recieved an error that outlook could not find its ost files. Specifically, the error is as follows: error outlook mstsc.exe "errors have been detected in the file C:\documents and settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Dat\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.ost. Please run the scanpst.exe tool to diagnose and repair errors in the file". I further cannot open outlook at all as outlook cannot find my default email folders (after I cancel this first message) a second appears that states: This error can occur if you attempt to run Outlook from a Terminal Server session when the OST file is in use by the console session. To access this instance of Outlook, exit the current Terminal Server session, and then start a new session by using the following Run command in Microsoft Windows:mstsc.exe /CONSOLEYou must be an administrator on the computer that is accessing the console session. You cannot access a console session from a computer running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition. But you can do so from a computer running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, or Microsoft Windows Vista.I know the ost file is not located in the standard windows location. but in a search I cannot turn it up in either the windows or the mac side. I am using mirrored folders. I attempted to repair the outlook configuration, and even uninstall
There have been many problems including the lack of broadand for over a month - thanks BT! However, when I start up Outlook 2007, I get the message: "This error can occur if you attempt to run Outlook from a Terminal Server session when the OST file is in use by the console session. To access this instance of Outlook, exit the current Terminal Server session, and then start a new session by using the following Run command in Microsoft Windows: mstsc.exe /CONSOLE You must be an administrator on the computer that is accessing the console session. But you can do so from a computer running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, or Microsoft Windows Vista. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 826488" Which is really odd as the error message has nothing to do with where we are. This relates to Outlook 2003 - we're on 2007, remember - and it is a direct connection. it's on the same LAN. Other things are that the e-mail account that I have with the exchange server I cleared and then restarted and now it won't resolve my name. I get the message: "Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." This happens when I try to configure manually. Letting MS do it gets the same result but with no message - it just sits there. And it would also appear that the exchange server is offline and I can't change it's status. I thought that it might be a gateway issue but the router is BT standard issue and there are no options. None in the TCP/IP properties either. I've altered the registry to add the RPC line and that's done nothing and I believer that I am upto date with all the service packs so all in all, I am at a complete loss. Outlook 2007 SBS 2003 Exchange 2003 ver 6.5.6 Any ideas? David in Devon mark@mvps.org -> RE: Can't resolve names, can't connect to server (9.Apr.2007 2:46:48 PM) Forgive me but I'm confused. Are you working against a terminal server, working with Outlook over the Internet to the SBS box or what?Where are you adding this mail profile from? DavidinDevon -> RE: Can't resolve names, can't connect to server (17.Apr.2007 2:33:07 AM) Hi Mark Sorry for the delay buy broadband has been down again. No I am not working from a terminal server. It's a straight forward LAN, all on the same site. The desktop is even on the same router as the PDC which handles Exchange. For some unknown reason, it just won't connect. Any ide
