With that said please let me share this problem in hopes of a possible solution. Recently, I installed and configured MacPorts successfully. However I receive a warning from my terminal when I try and install wine using MacPorts. I command my terminal as follows - sudo port install wine-devel. It seems to recognize the command because it then asks for a password, I insert the correct password. Then my terminal responds: Warning: No index(es) found! Have you synced your source indexes? Error: Port wine-devel not found Before reporting a bug, first run the command again with the -d flag to get complete output. I am a terminal abecedarian and I do not understand what -d flag means. Nor do I know how to sync my source indexes. Why can't terminal find Port wine-devel? How can I achieve these terms my terminal commands of me? Lastly, you should know, I have every system requirement to support Wine on my Macbook Pro. Intel processor, access to admin account with password, Apple Xcode and X11. All of the versions of software are compatible with my OS, Snow Leopard 6.2, and they are currently updated. Thank you for your time and consideration, as it is greatly appreciated. doh123 Post subject: Posted: Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:30 pm Level 8 User Control Panel Joined: Tue Jul 14, 2009 1:21 pmPosts: 1224 you didn't follow

Since it's been back, it's not quite been the same. I had Wine installed however wine my.exe no longer works. I get a -bash: wine: command error port wine not found error. I thought it might somehow have become de-installed, but upon trying to reinstall I get: wine-1.7.19 already installed To install this version, first 'brew unlink wine'. I've been having lots of permission errors which can't be corrected by disk utility, all of which are "ACL found but not expected" and brew doctor found a whole load of broken symlinks which have since been pruned. All very odd behaviour. How do I get Wine to run without having to unlink it and reinstall it? I'd much prefer if I could just continue where I left off. I'm not using MacPorts as far as I'm aware. osx homebrew wine share|improve this question edited Jul 28 '14 at 19:07 Alistair McMillan 8,03021342 asked Jul 28 '14 at 17:54 Mackey18 12517 1 I don't think that wine is in your path. Try typing which wine in the Terminal. If nothing is outputted, you need to add the directory for wine to your path. –aglasser Jul 28 '14 at 17:59 @aglasser Ok, so nothing was outputted, how to I add the directory for wine? –Mackey18 Jul 28 '14 at 18:28 Do you know where it is installed? You can add a variable to the path by looking at a tutorial like: architectry
A to Z to Install Wine On Mac OS X Every Mac user I know loves their Mac and wouldn't trade it for the world. But every now and then, there is a Windows application that they would like to be able to run. Sure there are Mac apps out there that can enable you to run them, like Boot Camp and VMWare, but what if you just want to run a couple apps? Can you really justify buying software for that? I would imagine not, unless you just absolutely can't do without it. This article takes you through the entire process from start to finish to get a working Wine environment on your Mac. Now, there are other ways to run Wine on Mac OS X, but I feel this is probably the most common. Plus, if you visit the support forums, most of those guys are running Wine this way, so the solutions they give usually apply to the command line. Once you have Wine setup this way, I think it will be easier to find help and support. Rather than having to try and figure out how to apply it to your particular install. What is Wine? Simply put, Wine is software that allows Mac OS X users and Linux users to run Windows applications on their computer. It is Open Source software and available as a free download. Why use Wine? Every now and then, Mac users find that there is an application that they would like to use, but it's only available for Windows. Typically the only way to run Windows applications on a Mac is to use virtualization software such as VMWare or use Boot Camp. This can eat into your system resources and take up lots of space on your hard drive, plus this may not be how you want your computer set up. Wine Compatibility It's not guaranteed that the application you want to use will work with Wine. Wine is an ongoing project and the team is constantly updating it and making improvements. They do have a list of applications that you can search to see how compatible your application is. You can find it here http://appdb.winehq.org/. If you cannot find your application listed, don't give up hope. This just means it's not very popular. For the ones that are listed, they ar
