Posted on 2008-01-07 Adobe Acrobat Software-Other 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 2,738 Views Last Modified: 2010-04-21 I am having a problem with PDF Print Generation. This is on an HP Workstation, https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/error-pdf-printer-failed-to.html running Windows XP Pro, SP2, with all of the latest security patches and upgrades. The Software progran is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro, with upgrades to 7.3. The problem: We use MAS 200 and Crystal Reports 8.5. When trying to generate a PDF of a Purchase order from MAS, the typical procedure is to chose a printer to print to. Since we wish to generate a PDF, the we use the Acrobat PDF Printer for this, which is https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23065294/How-do-I-resolve-this-type-of-Acrobat-PDF-Printing-Error.html an available printer to chose from for the user. All of the other workstations handle this procedure with Acrobat, without error as all of the workstations are identical in software and operating system level, but this one workstation is having issues. I have done the usual fixes, repair Acrobat from the installer file (Which usually fixes the lost Acrobat printer), repaired the registry, and adjusted the Distillier settings for print to print document as is (unchanged) instead of using the color conversion settings, but none of these seem to resolve this. Here is the print error generated by Acrobat: %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo: CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%% %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 After this error is generated, the print process quits and we are back to nothing. We also use networked hp postscript printers for normal printing. I have already scoured through Adobe's support site for this error, and there is not much on this. If you have any answers or suggestions on resolving this, please let me know. How do I get the US (swop) v2 in there? Thanks Lynne Lynne_Moran@adobeforums.com Guest May 9th,12:03 AM #4 Re: When trying to print pdf file get this message As a temporary workaround, you can change your joboptions to one that doesn't use color profiles, such as Press. You can also download some replacement ICC Color Profiles from adobe.com, poke around in the downloads section. with the job settings of the application. To get rid of the error, it pays to take a better look at the error message. The text right after ‘ErrorInfo:' should give you a good idea on what to look for. Solutions The error is typically caused by corrupted or damaged ICC-profiles, which need to be replaced. You can find more information on updating the profiles in this Adobe support article. A fairly ‘popular' PostScript error in Distiller is %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo: CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%. This error is caused by the color management settings and files of Acrobat. One possible solution is to go to the menu option Acrobat Distiller 5.0 - Settings - Job Options (ebook, print etc) - Color and then set the ‘Color Management Policies' box to ‘Leave Color Unchanged'. Here is another procedure to fix this problem when it is caused by the color profile ‘U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2' has gone missing. On the Adobe web site to the ‘ICC profiles for Windows‘ page and grab ‘Adobe ICC profiles'. Click Proceed to download and then Download Now Extract the ZIP file and go to Adobe ICC Profiles (end-user)\CMYK Profiles Right click ‘USWebCoatedSWOP.icc' and click Install Profile. This should fix the problem. 23 December 2014 3 Comments » 3 responses to "Offending command: setdistillerparams" KSR says: February 11, 2012 at 11:17 am Superb quickfix…. thnx a lot…!
