Error writing to file: ...\Appscan Standard\java\docs\autorun.inf". Symptom The error is shows in a form of an alert box as follows: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Programfiles (x86)\IBM\Appscan Standard\java\docs\autorun.inf. Verify that you have access to that directory. The AppScanInstallation.log file at %temp% contained additional errors as follows: Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\AppScan Standard\java\docs\autorun.inf. Error 1304.Error writing to file C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\AppScan Standard\java\docs\launchpad.exe. thread 8472 could not be cancelled. Error: 1168 Cause This error pattern is typical for interference of an anti virus program running on your machine. For example the Enable Application and Device Control setting in the Symantec Endpoint Protection anti virus program may cause the issue. Resolving the problem If you have Symantec Endpoint Protection, deselect the following option: Change Settings -> Client Management -> Configure Settings -> Enable Application and Device Control You can do it in the following steps: Open Symantec Endpoint Protection. On the left of the application window, select the Change Settings tab. Click the Configure Settings button in the Client Management section. Ensure that the Enable Application and Device Control is disabled. Error/Problem: Access denied while copying autorun.inf file to remote computer It will show you permission error, so what does it mean? Root Cause: You need permission from McAfee Anti Virus software. McAfee Anti Virus Prevents Remote Copy of AutoRun INF Files. When you copy any software or error writing files to remote directory that contains INF files then your system throw an error “you need permission to perform this action”. How to resolve this issue? Solution: You have to just follow the below mentioned steps on remote computer. Step-1: Open MacAfee Antivirus Virus Scan Console. Step-2: Right Click on “Access Protection” option and Click on “Properties”. You may also double click on “Access Protection” error writing autorun.inf to open the properties. Now select “Antivirus Standard Protection” category, here you will see “Prevent remote creation of autorun files” are blocked and reported. Step-3: Uncheck both “Block” and “Report” from “Prevent remote creation of autorun files” option. Now click on “Apply” then “Ok” and Close Virus Scan Console window. Now copy your files and folders to remote computer/network drive that contains autorun.inf file. You will be able to successfully transfer your files to remote computers or network drive.
