Advertisement abrownsfan Thread Starter Joined: Jan 26, 2011 Messages: 31 I have a cisco 2600 router and I'm trying to run an FTP server through a crossover cable to upgrade my home lab IOS. Cisco 2600 router> Windows XP running FTP I'm familiar with https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10943891/error-writing-ftpip-address-undefined-error routers and computers however little experience with FTP. I downloaded and installed Filezilla and it's running. I manually set the ip address of router and computer and they can ping between each other. I disabled the firewall thinking that could be the problem. and still can't figure it out. I have minimal configuration on the router just fa0/0 set to the 192.168.1.0/24 https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-unable-to-update-cisco-ios-through-ftp.985766/ network and the source of the FTP abrownsfan, Mar 13, 2011 #1 Sponsor abrownsfan Thread Starter Joined: Jan 26, 2011 Messages: 31 oww the error its giving me says (Undefined error) abrownsfan, Mar 13, 2011 #2 zx10guy Trusted Advisor Joined: Mar 30, 2008 Messages: 4,827 What command are you issuing on the router? I am able to login to the ftp server, but nothing happens after that. This is the error in the router. %Error writing ftp://192.168.1.13/routercme-confg (Undefined error) The ftp error writing log does not display any error except that the remote host disconnected. The connection is passive and all the settings are default. I have tried connecting from other PCs and the ftp works absolutely fine. Only when I try from the router does this happen. All this is in the internal network. An idea why this is happening? I have noticed that the FTP does not seem to obey the PASV port assigned. I have assigned ports 1500 to 1599 and it still offers 4069 to the client !?!? Maybe you have the wrong ports open on your firewall? Somebody somewhrer suggested to open 3000 to 5000 which seems to make some sense in this light. it's been lonely in the saddle since the horse died! Top suresh Posts: 2 Joined: Fri Apr 14, 2006 2:48 pm Its not working yet Quote Postby suresh » Mon May 01, 2006 1:42 pm Yes, I believe it could be an issue with Passive mode. I have opened up the required ports in firewall and even then it did not work. Thanks for the information. If only the cisco router fails, not all the other clients (are they running passive too), then it sounds like a cisco problem to me.
