I am using a very small adhoc ftp server (ftpdmin) on my laptop. However I get strange error that I am not able to find resolution. The Root Directory for FTP has read / write permissions to everyone. Here is some capture of the ftp logs as well as router / switch command that I am trying to test:Switch#copy run ftp://10.10.10.1Address or name of remote host [10.10.10.1]? Destination filename [switch-confg]? There is no firewall or anything else that is blocking. I have tested both ftp passive and active on router. Please advise as I am planning to do IOS upgrades on 2811and 1841 routers on a VPN network remotely from HQ and want to make sure that the large images get transfered soonest possible (I have to delete existing images to be able to accomodate the new image, and in absence of any image on flash, I want to make sure that new image is transfered soonest via FTP rather than using TFTP byte by byte and wait and acknowledgement protocol. I am also not sure if tftpd32 or any other tftp server and cisco routers themselves will permit larger than 32MB images to be transfered over tftp.Much thanks. 3185Views Tags: none (add) Reply (Login Required) 1. push the running configuration out to a ftp server. One thing I didn't mention was what to do if the ftp server does not allow anonymous access. Well you can pre-configure the IOS the FTP username and password along with other options as well. See below: Examples: ip ftp username SomeUserName ip ftp password SomePassword ip ftp passive ip ftp source-interface SomeInterface Router(config)#ip ftp ? passive Connect using passive mode password Specify password for FTP connections source-interface Specify interface for source address in FTP connections username Specify username for FTP connections Before configurating the FTP username and password: Router#copy running-config ftp: Address or name of remote host []? 10.1.1.1 Destination filename [Router-confg]? Writing Router-confg %Error writing ftp://10.1.1.1/Router-confg (Incorrect Login/Password) Router# With FTP configured: Router(config)#ip ftp username backup Router(config)#ip ftp password backuppass Router#copy running-config ftp: Address or name of remote host []? 10.1.1.1 Destination filename [Router-confg]? Writing Router-confg ! 7062 bytes copied in 1.020 secs (6924 bytes/sec) Router# This will also work with the cli command as part of a kron policy list. example: Rourter(config-kron-policy)#cli cli show run | redirect tftp://10.1.1.1/test.cfgWith the FTP username and password set above this command will now work with a username and password.
