That is usually c:\windows\temp, check in your (right click Computer) > System properties -> Advanced -> Environment variables. However, not every installer uses these settings - some sofware creates tmp folders in places different from the system's; therefore and just in case, these places shouldnt be marked read-only. Try : 1. Use the cleanup utility and update windows installer to the latest version: Windows Installer CleanUp Utility Download details: Windows Installer 4.5 2. Make sure that the tmp folder is not full (out of disk space) or write-protected 3. Make sure that the files inside the folder are not read-only 4. Empty it or specify a different temp folder #2 cybercore, Apr 17, 2010 reanimation New MemberJoined:Mar 18, 2010Messages:22Likes Received:0 3. Reboot completely, trying to not run any non-essential services or apps. Install as Administrator. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Error writing to temporary location Johnnysks Apr 8, 2013 8:41 AM (in response to Andy1003) I also came across this problem today. For me the problem was my Lightroom was installed on my D drive while the Lightroom update files were on C drive. Copying the install files over to the D drive fixed it for me.
