Error writing to file: Discussion in 'Windows 7 Help and Support' started by polarizeme, Jan 20, 2009. polarizeme New MemberJoined:Jan 17, 2009Messages:16Likes Received:0 heya. So my work bought me the Adobe CS4 Master Collection yesterday (I'm a graphic designer and an IT dude) and I simply cannot install it. the installer will open just fine, but as soon as it starts installing from the DVDs, I get this error: "Suite Shared Configuration CS4 Error: Error 1603. Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700.manifest. Verify that you have access to that directory." I've tried the following things to no avail: 1) changing the permissions on /Manifests temporarily. - result: "unable to save permission changes. access is denied." - side note: the file x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700.manifest does not exist at all. I'm assuming that CS4 is trying to *create* this file, but cannot due to there being no write permissions for my admin account on this folder. - another side note: the group/user TrustedInstaller *DOES* have write permission to /Manifests. 2) I've tried making an .iso of the DVDs, copying the files to my C: and running them from there (just for the sake of saying I tried something else) and there was no luck there, either. help! I totally uninstalled my old version of CS3, and I looked for the installation discs for that at work today with no luck. I've got a ton of work to do an

For this, make sure you have the Installation Type set to "Per machine if user is administrator, per user otherwise". You should get an elevation prompt during the install. If this doesn't solve your issue you can send us the .AIP (project) and a verbose log of the installation to support at advancedinstaller dot com so we can help you investigate.Regards,Mihai Mihai Petcu - Advanced Installer TeamFollow us: Twitter - Facebook - YouTube Top Cosmin Posts: 5797 Joined: Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:39 pm Contact: Contact Cosmin Website Re: Repackage Installation and writing error to winsxs Quote Postby Cosmin » Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:58 am Hi
Deployment Package Development Hi I'm packaging an application and it needs to copy msxml4.dll og msxml4r.dll to c:\windows\WinSxS\x86_..... and the .cat and .manifest-files to c:\windows\WinSxS\Manifests. The problem http://www.itninja.com/question/regarding-winsxs-and-manifests is that it puts both the Manifest-files and the .dll's to c:\windows. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1824790 NOT under WinSxS. I've also tried with Merge Modules, but these 6 files refuse. Do anybody have a clue to help me? The full path wanted is: C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.20.9818.0_x-ww_8ff50c5d\msxml4.dll C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2R_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.1.0.0_x-ww_29c3ad6a\msxml4r.dll c:\windows\WinSxS\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.20.9818.0_x-ww_8ff50c5d.cat c:\windows\WinSxS\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.20.9818.0_x-ww_8ff50c5d.Manifest c:\windows\WinSxS\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2R_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.1.0.0_x-ww_29c3ad6a.cat c:\windows\WinSxS\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2R_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.1.0.0_x-ww_29c3ad6a.Manifest The path I get is: C:\WINDOWS\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.20.9818.0_x-ww_8ff50c5d\msxml4.dll C:\WINDOWS\x86_Microsoft.MSXML2R_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.1.0.0_x-ww_29c3ad6a\msxml4r.dll etc Best regards Binque I wanted to post the log-file error writing aswell, but couldnt upload anything here. 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments Comments Please log in to comment Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,so that the conversation will remain readable.
