The installation fails with the error: "Error writing to file: Microsoft.SqlServer.TransactSql.ScriptDom.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory." I have verified that the MSI is intact by installing it on other machines. DETAILS ATTACH A FILE EDIT THIS ITEM Assign To Item can only be reassigned when it is active. The issue should not have been closed and the MSI should have checked for .NET 4.0 first.Thank you Arvind for posting the solution. I had the same issue and it was because .NET 4.0 was not installed. Posted by ajhuddymsdn on 2/6/2013 at 3:05 PM No, it shouldn't be closed. The MSI should give a warning that .NET 4.0 is not installed. Posted by Microsoft on 10/23/2012 at 11:44 AM Thank you for confirming, the issue will be closed. Alex Grach [MSFT] Posted by Arvind Shyamsundar on 10/12/2012 at 12:07 AM My apologies, please close this as a false alarm. The issue occurred due to non-installation of the .NET 4.0 framework. It would have been nice to have a pre-requisite check, though :-) Sign in to post a workaround. Please enter a workaround. Installation Issues It's been a while since I pushed out an article and then today this happens to me on a SQL box. During the installation of SQL Server Upgrade Advisor, I ran into this box telling me I need prerequisite: Setup is missing prerequisites: -Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Transact-SQL ScriptDom, which is not installed by Upgrade Advisor Setup. To continue, install SQL Server 2014 Transact-SQL ScriptDom from below hyperlink and then run the Upgrade Advisor Setup operation again : Go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=296473 This is a no brainer, we have forgotten to install ScriptDom which we can grab either from the SQL server feature pack onlineor copySqlDom.msi from you SQL 2014 install media. Depending on your server setup during https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/767144/resolved-sqldom-fails-to-install installation of ScriptDom you might run into the below error, which is slightly misleading and information on this is fairly sparse. Error writing to file: Microsoft.SqlServer.TransactSql.ScriptDom.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory. Retry/Cancel Now, you can press retry until you are blue in the face but you would be no closer to getting ScriptDom installed. What you want to do is install .Net Framework 4.0. Thinking back, it would have been nice if this check https://dhlotter.blogspot.com/2014/07/sql-server-2014-upgrade-advisor.html was included in the prerequisite check phase.
