Error Writing To Process File Pid.nbf Domino
may be inappropriately accessing this file)" Error; writing; process; file; pid.nbf; applications; may be inappropriately; accessing; this file Technote (troubleshooting) Problem Your Lotus Domino server will not start and the following error is seen on the console: Error writing to process file pid.nbf, (other applications may be inappropriately accessing this file) Symptom The pid.nbf file has been removed, but the error persists. The Domino server still will not start. A few lines are appended to the bottom of the notes.ini file. You can remove the entries, but they are added again when the server is started. For example: [Notes]FaultRecovery_Build=Release 8.0.2 Directory= '>/Ó¥_ '·/Ô/ Cause In this case, the problem was caused by a user modifying a line in the notes.ini, the line should read: [Notes] The user changed this to: [Notes.ini] Correcting that line back to [Notes] fixes the issue. In another case the notes.ini was pointing to an incorrect location for the program directory and the data directory. When this was corrected the server started normally. Environment Domino on IBM i Resolving the problem The first line in the notes.ini must always read [Notes]. Modify the notes.ini to correct this entry. This problem can also occur if there are multiple Directory= lines in the notes.ini. Be sure that any duplicate entries are removed and the directory information is correct. Everything works fine. NLHOOK.EXE [0760:0002-08A4] Error writing to process file pid.nbf, (other applications may be inappropriately accessing this file) We have created a Windows 7 image with Notes 8.5.3, error writing to and our other apps, all service packed, patched and sysprepd. We used the guidance in the link below to pre-populate the server name for the users. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21112835. In the Notes.ini, C:\ProgramData\Lotus\Notes\Data I added a line:- ConfigFile=C:\ProgramData\Lotus\Notes\Data\setup.txt The setup.txt looks like this:- Domino.Name=my-domino-server/servers/my-org Domino.Port=TCPIP Domino.Server=1 AdditionalServices=0 Permissions are fine throught the directory structure. The only other issue I've found that relates to this was someone who was also working with Windows Images but the thread went cold. http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd85forum.nsf/dba3ca7e515d55ff85256a0700727b35/b11c2753864b95f7852579e9005575fb?OpenDocument. This might be a solution as it's fixed the issue on the test server. Production servers might need to wait until a weekend. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937624 It's basically UAC and network drive mappings.
