Error Writing To Process File Pid Nbf Lotus Notes
may be inappropriately accessing this file)" Error; writing; process; file; pid.nbf; applications; may be inappropriately; accessing; this file Technote (troubleshooting) Problem Your Lotus Domino server will not start and the following error is seen on the console: Error writing to process file pid.nbf, (other applications may be inappropriately accessing this file) Symptom The pid.nbf file has been removed, but the error persists. The Domino server still will not start. A few lines are appended to the bottom of the notes.ini file. You can remove the entries, but they are added again when the server is started. For example: [Notes]FaultRecovery_Build=Release 8.0.2 Directory= '>/Ó¥_ '·/Ô/ Cause In this case, the problem was caused by a user modifying a line in the notes.ini, the line should read: [Notes] The user changed this to: [Notes.ini] Correcting that line back to [Notes] fixes the issue. In another case the notes.ini was pointing to an incorrect location for the program directory and the data directory. When this was corrected the server started normally. Environment Domino on IBM i Resolving the problem The first line in the notes.ini must always read [Notes]. Modify the notes.ini to correct this entry. This problem can also occur if there are multiple Directory= lines in the notes.ini. Be sure that any duplicate entries are removed and the directory information is correct. Regards,Tony. RE: Domino Server fails to start tonty (MIS) (OP) 30 Aug 07 06:36 Sorted, no thanks to the completely misleading error messages.Turns out the notes.ini was corrupt and had replaced the Directory=pathname with weird charaters. Remember, when building > wine on your own, to install cups-devel and cups for printing before > you compile it!! I tried again after upgrading my debian box to testing. I now use wine 0.9.11-1 I moved my old .wine dir and let wine create a new one. Then I copied the lotus folder again and copied the following libs to .wine/drive_c/windows/system/: cp /drive_c/WINDOWS/ServicePackFiles/i386/mfc42.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system/ cp /drive_c/WINDOWS/ServicePackFiles/i386/mfc42u.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system/ cp /drive_c/WINDOWS/system32/msvcp60.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system cp /drive_c/WINDOWS/system32/usp10.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system cp /drive_c/WINDOWS/system32/msvcrt.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system Then I started winecfg and added nlnotes and notes to the application list (first tab) and added overrides for the above dll's for both applications. starting notes.exe or nlnotes.exe gives a warning from lotus (before the login-prompt: IBM Lotus Notes: You cannot use the Administration program while the Domino Server is running. Either shut down the Domino Server (but keep the file server running) or choose the icon labeled 'Lotus Notes' instead. On the console the following error message is written: $ wine "c:\program files\lotus\notes\nlnotes.exe" Invoking /usr/lib/wine/wine.bin c:\program files\lotus\notes\nlnotes.exe ...
