20:11 PST Question ID: 142844 Attn: PWizard When I try to print something I get an error message reading, "There was an error writing to USB/Deskjet 880C/MY92B120CPGE for the printer (HP Deskjet 880C): Your file waiting to be printed was deleted." I think this problem may have begun a few days ago when, while printing, the paper ran out. I've tried "power cycling"the computer. Sometimes this helps; sometimes not. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with 256k ram, using IE/Win 98. If you can help. please be explicit--I'm not particularly well-versed in computer stuff. Thanks. Request for Question Clarification by pwizard-ga on 15 Jan 2003 09:38 PST Greetings monreale, When you try to print and receive the http://reboot.sitotop.com/vbscript/error-writing-to-usbdeskjet.html error, 1. Does the error occur every time or just sometimes? 2. Does the printer do anything at all? Does it show any status messages or make any noises as if it's trying to print? 3. Have you tried unplugging the printer from the USB port, rebooting the PC, then re-plugging in the printer? My first guess is that there is probably something wrong with the print driver or software installed for the printer. When you installed http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/142844.html the printer, did you install the complete software CD that came with the printer, or did you simply plug it in and let Windows install the drivers by itself? If you installed it from CD, you could always try uninstalling and re-installing to see if it corrects the problem. I'm of course going on the assumption that there is nothing physically wrong with the printer (no error lights, paper jam, out of paper, etc). Let me know the answers to these questions and we'll continue troubleshooting from there. Thanks, PWizard Clarification of Question by monreale-ga on 16 Jan 2003 13:20 PST Hello PWizard-- In answer to your questions: 1. Everytime, although there are two different error messages that appear. 2.No. 3.I just tried this and, Eureka, the printer is working again. So I think this case is closed and you should claim your payment. Many thanks, monreale Answer Subject: Re: Computer printer problem Answered By: pwizard-ga on 16 Jan 2003 14:20 PST Rated: Greetings monreale, I am happy to help you with your printer problem. Through our brief round of troubleshooting, it looks like Windows just needed to reset the print driver for the device. To recap, this was accomplished by unplugging the printer, rebooting Windows, then re-plugging in the printer to allow Windows a chance to re-initiate the connection and re-install the drivers if necessary. Another solution
pointer to a FAQ) much appreciated: The printer stops printing part-way through complex tasks. It seems to cope OK with simple tasks. The problem seems worse if I http://www.verycomputer.com/14_4b82ac7d36e8a122_1.htm try to get on with something else while the printing continues. The computer is giving the following message: There was an error writing to USB/Deskjet 815C/HU9CSIVOSJIE for the printer (HP Deskjet 815C https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=150894 Series Printer): The printer was not ready. Make sure it is turned on and online. To continue printing click retry. Windows will automatically retry after 5 seconds." Computer is a Cyrix M2/333mhz, error writing Running Windows 98 Printer HP Deskjet 815C. The printer default setting in Spool Settings is start printing after first page is spooled. There are known problems with non-Intel chipsets. Check VIATECH.COM for updates for the error writing to VIA chipset. For SiS or ALi, check Windrivers.com How long is your USB cable? While the maximum length is 10', I have found best luck with cables shorter than that. I copied the whole mooedledata-folder and the whole database to a new server. Starting moodle was followed by several installation-dialogues. And after the plugin-check I always get the same error message: Error writing to database Anybody an idea, since the mySql-user surely can write into the database (for example using phpmyadmin). The mysql-server is not the localhost! (http://www.chsoftware.net/en/mowes/mowesportable/mowes.htm) Afterwards I copied moodledata and moodle-database to the new local webserver. Installing Moodle2 finished with the same error - so it is not a problem of my official webserver, since the problem can be rebuild in an testing-environment. attached a scr
