2.0preview2: Error writing to databaseMarkus StroblWednesday, 26 May 2010, 3:56 AMHello, I'm testing Moodle 2.0 to implement it with the new school year in september. I copied the whole mooedledata-folder and the whole database to a new server. Starting moodle was followed by several installation-dialogues. And after the plugin-check I always get the same error message: Error writing to database Anybody an idea, since the mySql-user surely can write into the database (for example using phpmyadmin). The mysql-server is not the localhost! Unfortunately I don't have any ideas about your error, however I'm going to move your discussion to the testing and QA forum where hopefully someone will have an answer... (http://www.chsoftware.net/en/mowes/mowesportable/mowes.htm) Afterwards I copied moodledata and moodle-database to the new local webserver. Installing Moodle2 finished with the same error - so it is not a problem of my official webserver, since the problem can be rebuild in an testing-environment. attached a screenshotAverage of ratings: - Permalink | Show parent | ReplyRe: Moodle 2.0preview2: Error writing to databaseMartin DougiamasWednesday, 26 May 2010, 8:59 PMHi Markus, Can you please try again, this time make sure you have: the latest development version from the download page or CVS this in your config.php file: $CFG->debug = 38911; $CFG->debugdisplay = true; You should see more information in the crash - please post it here. For this I have two tables. mdl_qadt and mdl_qads. I did the teacher part, that is teacher can add question. This is saved to table mdl_qadt. Now student login http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26178777/error-writing-to-database-in-moodle and select this activity display a form. Here students can post their answer. When posting the answer that give an error: Error writing to database. But the answer and relevant data are inserted into the table mdl_qads. Then why the error shows?? We are happy to help, but will need some more information. When/where are you getting this error? During installation? If so, how are you installing Moodle? Are you installing Moodle from Softaculous, or doing a manual Moodle installation? If you are manually installing Moodle, I recommend checking to make sure you created the database correctly, and the database user was setup and given permission to access the database. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them below. Thank you, -John-Paul You must login before you can post a comment about this answer. Like this Question? workstation in separate directories. When logging into the site with the root account, I receive Error writing to database. I believe the permissions are correctly set within phpMyAdmin and I also have full administrative rights to the local machine. Lastly, if I attempt to connect to http://*localhost*/admin/settings.php/section=debugging, I receive This page can't be displayed. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. jota 2015-08-03 10:10:21 UTC #2 Hi @Foxnbvr, Did you follow our guide about how to migrate your Moodle? https://wiki.bitnami.com/Applications/BitNami_Moodle#How_to_migrate_your_Moodle_installation.3f I followed it and everything is working fine. I didn't get any "Error writing to database" error. Let us know if it works for you. Jota Foxnbvr 2015-08-03 13:16:51 UTC #3 Yes, I followed the migration guide and the data appears to be there. We attempted both phpMyAdmin and manual steps for importing and exporting the database. Each step was also attempted for versions 2.8.5 and 2.9.1 in addition to multiple fresh installations. jota 2015-08-04 07:29:34 UTC #4 Hi @Foxnbvr, Could you please answer this questions? Did you follow the steps to remove the database, create a new one and grant the privileges to the bitnami user? Did you set the password that is in the htdocs/config.php file? Did you get any issue if you recover the backup manually? Could you please create a new backup (start all the process again) and try to recover the new backup? I don't know if you got any issues when you create the other backup. I hope it helps. Jota Foxnbvr 2015-08-05 14:47:04 UTC #5 I followed all the steps again and everything appears to be working now. It seemed to be a combination of a bad back backup and performing the export and import manually, as opposed through phpMyAdmin. One step that was not in the migration documentation was copying the salt option from the old version to the new. Thanks again for you assistance. jota 2015-08-06 07:08:02 UTC #6 Hi @Foxnbvr, I'm glad to hear that your problem was solved. Thanks for letting us know that info for the migration, we'll review the wiki. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions. Jota Home Categories FAQ/Guidelines Term
