When uploading a .csv of new users I get "error/moodle/dmlwriteexception" error. This is the first time I've tried uploading users since updating from 1.8 to 2.0.1. The upload preview correctly shows the list of user information, the error occurs when doing to import. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Average of ratings: - Permalink | ReplyRe: Error uploading usersHelen FosterFriday, 25 February 2011, 11:36 PMHi Joseph, Please could you turn on debugging (as described in the documentation Debugging) in order to help diagnose the problem.Average of ratings: - Permalink | Show parent | ReplyRe: Error uploading usersJoseph McCartyWednesday, 9 March 2011, 1:32 AMI apologize for not following up sooner, we have been on holiday. Increasing this value may resolve the issue. I have tried to increase the value of max_allowed_packet 1M to 100M but still getting the same error. on March 11, 2013 by John Sims Today I Learned that if you attempt to upload a Moodle user file with entries that exceed field limits, you will simply https://til365.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/til-moodle-user-upload-limitations/ get an "Error writing to database" message. That's it. Debug does not help. The first time an record with an entry exceeding the field's maximum length as defined in the database, it will fail to write and the upload process will fail with the aforementioned error message. Not-Very-Helpful Moodle Error Message Technically, it makes sense, but really, it would be nice if there was a a more error writing helpful error message accompanying the upload failure. At least I think that is what they tried teaching us in programming classes back in college.
