My wife needed WLM so windows live messenger that she could speak with our Grand Daughter back in England. We had trouble getting it to work and that was very frustrating when it should have been so easy. I spent a few hours trying http://www.instructables.com/id/Fix-Windows-Live-Messenger-Error-Code/ to figure out why I kept getting an error message 810030d. Searching via Google etc for a solution, I was advised to execute the commands, listed down at the bottom of this post via Windows Start - Run - type each one in turn and hit OK. bit all to no avail. - advised to check the computer clock time zone was correctly set etc etc. Today I found it, a posted question or maybe it was a reply, it was in Spanish so I am not quite http://theinfochief.com/284/windows-live-messenger-810030d-error-code/ sure which, but I did understand the operative sign for me that was AVG8 which is the anti virus tool that I use. I had already checked my firewall exceptions but totally forgot AVG. Under the Web Shield Button (in AVG) I disabled the Instant Messaging Protection function WLM to test it and Hey presto I can sign on. No problema. Maybe you have a similar function key on your anti virus software tool, I think there could be a similar thing with Avast for example. If this solves your problem then I am glad.
