Solved PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable- on HP x4000 workstation Posted on 2006-06-25 Desktops_PCs 2 Verified Solutions 5 Comments 16,579 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 Sirs: I get message PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable- when trying to load operating system on fax error an HP x4000 workstation. I also get PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM, and Operating System not found, when trying to boot from CDrom. I am unfamiliar with these error messages in the first place, and even though I know I must have a bad cable or connection somewhere, I do not know what these messages refer to. I have an operating system in the CDrom tray, first boot device, and a 300 GB ide drive as the first hp fax error hard drive device in boot order and also an 18 GB SCSI drive as the second hard drive device in boot order. Can you tell me what exactly to check and also what might be causing these messages? Also, this is not the first time I have seen these type messages on an HP workstation-does HP have some type of error code list to refer to to decipher and troubleshoot these type messages or might they occur on other brands of workstations? I hate to sound too stupid but this again baffles me somewhat even if simple as I am not sure where to start. System is sensing all drives everywhere else as far as I can tell. Thanks L.
