Hp Deskjet 840c Error Printing
printer on a Windows 98 computer and it was working fine. Then she bought a new computer with Windows XP and connected the printer to it. When her daughter tried to print something, it started printing and then suddenly stopped, ejected the paper and the print cartridge light started blinking so the printer will not print. Now, I've been looking to see what the problem is and I've noticed that the sockets for the ink should have ESD blades (part # C2145-00037). I've also noticed that the socket for the black ink does not have one. I am wondering if this might be the problem, since I've already tried cleaning the ink cartridge contacts, but the light is still blinking. Can anyone please tell me what this blade does? What it is for? I've done searches to find out but haven't found any info at all. If the problem is not the blade, then any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you for your help. Respond to this 1 Make sure that the encoder strip is connected on both ends. The encoder strip is made of thin plastic about 1/4" wide and runs horizontally the length of the printer. If it has become disconnected it must be rethreaded through a slot in the carriage before being reconnected. If the encoder strip appears to be ok, clean it on both sides using water. Use caution or you will disconnect it from one of its mounting hooks. by Bert on Dec 12, 2007 at 3:28pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 We get lots of questions about 'missing' ESD blades. Many HP printers only have one on the color cartridge side. After disassembling a carriage, I cannot imagine how one could fall out, i.e. if one is 'missing', HP did not originally install it. ESD means electro static discharge, so it is used to drain static electricity from the cartridge. by Bert on Dec 30, 2004 at 10:03pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 You may be right Bert, but stranger things have happened. I'm just making sure this is not one of them. So then, how come does the printer cartridge light keep blinking and the printer won't print? This printer was printing before it suddenly stopped and spit out the paper it was printing. So, I wouldn't think it's a bad cartridge problem unless one of them went bad when printing. I have cleaned t

Its the latest driver that came down from MS update. hp deskjet 840c Ive seen this question asked in different ways on other forums, but have so far not seen any correct answers. Is there another driver I can use other than the MS one, as there is nothing for Win 7 on the HP site for this printer. This is not a critical question, but my client doesnt want to toss the printer if there is a work around that will allow him to keep using it. 0 Question by:MonziBoy Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 91 Active today Best Solution bynobus for removing a printer driver, follow the guide here : http://www.ehow.com/how_5576129_completely-windows-vistawindows-printer-drivers.html Go to Solution 19 Comments LVL 22 Overall: Level 22 Windows 7 17 Printers and Scanners 3 Message Expert Comment by:senad2009-12-15 just to clarify ....what version of windows : x32 or x64 and where is the printer attached? 0 LVL 91 Overall: Level 91 Windows 7 31 Printers and Scanners 21 Message Active today Expert Comment by:nobus2009-12-15 did you try this one ? http://download.famouswhy.com/hp_deskjet_840c_printer_driver/ 0 LVL 2 Overall: Level 2
HP drivers and software need to be removed from the Device Manager and the Programs list. The printer needs to be unplugged from the computer. Windows needs to be restarted. If the Add New Hardware Wizard does not come up, in the System Configuration utility, all Startup Group items need to be disabled, printer unplugged and the computer restarted. After full restart, printer should be plugged back in and the Add New Hardware Wizard should come up. The HP install CD should be in CD drive. After walking through the HP install and running a test print, go back to System configuration utility and re-enable all unchecked items in the Startup group. Initial setup: - Make sure the printer is plugged into the USB port unless otherwise noted. - Make sure the HP Printer CD-ROM is in the CD drive unless otherwise noted. Step by Step Instructions: Removing HP drivers from Device Manager (may not be any) 1) Make sure the USB Printer is plugged into the computer. 2) Go to the Start button > Settings > Control Panels 3) Double click on the System control panel. 4) Click on the Device Manager tab. 5) At the bottom, if there is one, click on the (+) symbol next to USB Hewlett- Packard Deskjets device. 6) Select anything beneath this and choose Remove, then OK. 7) Close the System window.
