Published on Jul 24, 2013Here is my HP Deskjet F4180.Recently I purchased some remanufactured inkjet cartridges. The color cartridges don't work. The blank ink cartridges were working for a few print jobs but soon after it stopped printing. So I ran the "Clean Print Heads" option on my computer a few times... and unfortunately, the printing did not get any better.I am not a fan of print heads being integrated into the ink cartridge. They are hard to clean and are the main reason why these inkjet cartridges can be quite expensive.I read online that I should remove the ink cartridges and clean them with a water and a cotton q tip. I will try this soon, but my work around was kind of drastic.I took some dishwasher soap and mixed it with some water and put it onto a paper towel. Then I placed the towel onto the print heads.... I was able to get the remanufactured ink cartridges to work again.*** It is my belief that the printer is not cleaning the print heads properly. I've had this problem on another HP printer before. I believe the print head cleaning mechanism is not working well.. but I will not rule out the fact that the print heads may be already damaged. Categ
