Incorrect Key File For Table Try To Repair It Mysql
I'm trying to run a rather large query that is supposed to run nightly to populate a table. I'm getting an error saying Incorrect key file for table '/var/tmp/#sql_201e_0.MYI'; try to repair it but the storage engine I'm using (whatever the default is, I guess?) doesn't support repairing tables. how do I fix this so I can run the query? mysql mysql-error-126 share|improve this question edited May 5 '11 at 23:24 OMG Ponies 198k36356415 asked

You should be able to repair it. If the repair fails then it's a sign that the table is very corrupted, you have no choice but to restore it from backups. If you have other systems (e.g. non-production with same software versions and schema) with an identical table then you might be able to fix it with some hackery (copying the frm an MYI files, followed by a repair). In essence, the trick is to avoid getting broken tables in the first place. This means always shutting your db down cleanly, never having it crash and never having hardware or power problems. I received “PHP Warning: PDOStatement::execute(): SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 126 Incorrect key file for table ‘/tmp/#sql_66f_0.MYI’; try to repair it”. My database table in this instance is using the storage engine of InnoDB and therefore one can not use the “repair table”. From my experience I’ve found that this error can mean one of two issues however I have not found information from MySQL confirming this. Solution – Repair Table The error message may mean the database table is corrupted and requires a repair. Run repair table on the associated database table. Re-run the previous query. The issue will now be resolved. Solution – Free Disk Space The error message may mean the system does not have enough free disk space. Verify the free disk space. On Linux execute at the console “df -h”. On Windows open “My Computer” to see free space available. If low or out of disk space, free up some space or follow the next steps to change MySQL server setting to point to a new temporary path. Edit the MySQL server configuration file, my.cnf (on Debian, /etc/mysql/my.cnf). Change the “tmpdir” path variable to a new location with more available free disk space (ex. /var/tmp or D:\temp). Stop MySQL daemon/service and then start MySQL daemon/service for the configuration changes to take affect.
