Here we go folks, I've been having this problem for almost a year now with my computer (infinite loop and ati2dvag.dll reboot errors), and tried almost everything my mind could possible think of doing. I've tried every solution on blue screen device driver infinite loop this board, and every other board I could find relating to this file and to the infinite loop, with absolutely no success. I tried every driver package available, bios updates, agp chipset updates, every combination of every setting. I've tried reducing power usage in my computer, I've placed more power in my computer... I've added more fans and created an optimal cooling system in my computer. I made sure there were absolutely no IRQ conflicts, and nothing was using the same IRQ as my video card. I've tried with one stick of ram, with one in 1 and 3. I've tried disabling onboard sound, and putting in a soundblaster card. Nothing... I mean nothing, worked at all. Until now! I found a solution, that has worked for me and a bunch of other people who have tested it for me. So give it a try, perhaps it will work for you too. My computer has been working 100% since I made this change. There is a chance it could reduce the effeciency of your texture drawing with your video card... but I've tested it

I keep getting BSODs involving "ati2dvag" at seemingly random times. This usually happens surfing the web, but also when just interfacing with windows. I'll make a mouse click, and then nothing happens. I can still move the mouse pointer, and I try right clicking, alt-tab, or ctrl-alt-delete but still nothing. Peter Guest I figured I would post this message to help people out. If is not specific to just one issue. People with Nvida cards, AMD motherboards, and other configurations can all have this issue. When you experience this problem ask yourself these questions: 1. Do I have the most recent drivers for the Intel/AMD Chipset. Note: For example: Asus p4g8x- were shipped older drivers! If you installed the drivers off the disk included in your bundle go to the intel site infinite loop and download the newest patch! Most likely this will solve your issue. 2. Also, take note to be sure to uninstall your ATI drivers, and then install the newest versions. 3. Make sure you have a Antec True Power Supply too... just because your power source says 350 Watts...means nothing. See Tom's harware for power supply artilces. Hope this helps. But I have to admit that it was none ati2dvag infinite loop of the above mentioned tricks to cure it but my wife s idea to get the card out of the computer and to clean it carefully. Tons of dirt came out and when I put it back in, all ran fine like in our honeymoon. But I made no hardware changes. I had saved a disk image from a month earlier before I updated the ATI drivers. Since restoring that disk image - no loop. After restoring, I noticed that "Fast Writes" were disabled in my previous configuration. When I had installed the newer drivers, they had set this to enabled. I don't know if that was the cause, and I'm not changing anything to find out either. I'll live with the installed video driver as long as I possibly can now. This has always happened to me every time I use an ATi card. This mostly happens to me when I play games on the HL2 engine. I used to have an X700 pro, but I kept on freezing over and over and sometimes get the BSOD with the error: "ATI2DVAG.dll was stuck in infinite loop" than im forced to reboot. Hard drive starts dumping cache, etc. So I decided to get an X1900GT, because my old card started to show its age. But low and behold, 2 hours into the game...I froze. I can't tell you how frustrated I am because I thought this demon was gone. Overheating isnt the issue, my computer always stays under 40 C. But when I run ATi Tool's 3D view to warm up the card, it stabilizes at 70 C, so that could be a problem. I'm running everything on stock right now, no OC, here is my rig: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13 GHz) MSI motherboard (945P Neo3) 1 GB Kingston value ram (667 MHz) Sapphire ATi X1900GT 510W Power Supply DVD-RW Drive, CD-RW Drive I don't know what to do, and I'm desperate for answers, can anyone help me? -Matt Edited by Matt B, 25 February 2007 - 11:03 PM.
