I followed the instructions at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2020977, i.e. I used the disk utility to restore file permissions and - after a restart - it solved the problem. Tried to find the thread mentioned above but clicking on the link fails to find it.Hesitant to try the parameters solution mentioned previously, unless nothing else works. During the permissions rebuild one of the messages back says one permission not reset and its a core one....too long for any more detail I am afraid.CheersChris Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post by tbrock783, tbrock783 Dec 29, 2009 12:07 AM in response to SteveDemy Level 1 (0 points) Dec 29, 2009 12:07 AM in response to SteveDemy I recently had this issue on my PowerMac G5 DC-2.3GHz. Tried a lot of fixes, but had ultimate success by reinstalling the drivers to my graphics card (ATI Radeon x1900). I had noticed that the OpenGL screen
I am running OS X 10.5.6 and it's a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and vlc the 320 GB HD. My DVD/CD won't accept/load the CD/DVD at all and the real kicker of it is is that the machine JUST went off warranty. I think the CD/DVD is the Mitsubishi one. Any help would be GREAT. I have been getting the error message: There was an initialization error. A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]. I have tried to reset https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2192338?tstart=0 the parameters. I have tried to restart the computer and then wait for a few moments. I have tried to use the hold the mouse down and restart. I downloaded the Tray Eject applescript and don't know how to run that. I have NOT tried the shut off and unplug everything but will and see if that works. What I would try first is to connect the monitor via a HDMI cable if the 640 has such a connector. But honestly I believe it would make more sense to open a new thread with this item.
