It install failed insufficient storage bluestacks happens regardless of app size, or how much storage is available. Rebooting the target device fixes the problem briefly, but it soon comes back. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of message board posts from people asking why the problem occurs, but the folks at Google are frustratingly silent on the issue. There is a simple workaround. If your test device is running Android 2.2 or later then add the android:installLocation attribute to your application's manifest file,

I keep getting the INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error when trying to test an app on a real device. Restarting the device and/or uninstalling then reinstalling the app works FOR ONLY ONE TEST RUN. After that, the error pops right back up. I'm not looking for a solution for an emulated device, and my device has 4.27GB free space so that's not an issue either. I just need a fix for this problem http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17267312/android-install-failed-insufficient-storage-error without having to keep restarting the device/uninstalling the app. Also, I've tried the whole android:installLocation="preferExternal" method in the manifest and that does not work. EDIT: Here is my manifest:

The method I tried: Right click the root of your Android Project, go to "Run As" then go to "Run Configurations..." locate the "Android Application" node in the tree at the left, then select your project and go install failed insufficient to the "Target" tab on the right side of the window look down for the "Additional Emulator Command Line Options" field (sometimes you'll need to make the window larger) and finally paste "-partition-size 1024" there. Click Apply and then Run to use your emulator. Go to Eclipse's Preferences, then Select “Launch” Add “-partition-size 1024” on the “Default emulator option” field, then click “Apply” and use your emulator as usual. Open your .Android directory. Usually in your home directory. Then go to avd and then open the directory that has the name of the avd you would like to change. Now edit the config.ini file and add the following line or modify the following line: disk.dataPartition.size=1024 This all worked for me in Linux. I used my app to store in external storage by using this: android:installLocation="preferExternal" but then I received Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_MEDIA_UNAVAILABLE java android eclipse android-emulator google-tv share|improve this question edited Jul 5 '12 at 11:02 jonsca 7,59193450 asked Jul 5 '12 at 10:15 Jagan 9861027 you are testing on emulator? –Mohsin Naeem Jul 5 '12 at 10:19 s i'm testing it in google tv add on emulato
2012 by Lars Vogel If you work with the Android Emulator and deploy to it for a while you may receive the following error message in the LogCat View. Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE The reason for this is that the emulator default to 64MB for internal storage. You can override this in the Eclipse launch configuration for your Android application with the additional parameter -partition-size 1024. Alternative you can add the following line to the "config.ini" file of you AVD definition. This file is stored in the user folder in .android/avd and then under your specific device definition. For example: hw.lcd.density=160 sdcard.size=200M skin.name=HVGA skin.path=platforms/android-15/skins/HVGA hw.cpu.arch=arm abi.type=armeabi-v7a hw.cpu.model=cortex-a8 vm.heapSize=48 snapshot.present=true hw.ramSize=512 image.sysdir.2=system-images/android-15/armeabi-v7a/ image.sysdir.1=add-ons/addon-google_apis-google_inc_-15/images/armeabi-v7a/ disk.dataPartition.size=1024 I hope this helps. I have also ask the Android development team to increase the default value: Bug report.
