Prior to actually doing this Ubuntu installation, I had read a warning about DeskTop's installer not including all the previous GRUB and boot options at Step 8, and that left me concerned about not being able to uncheck "add boot" during the Ubuntu installation. So, I did two "test runs" into the DeskTop installer to see about that, and I did the second one with all of my hard drives disabled ... and then I actually went on through with a temporary/trial installation of Ubuntu on an external drive ... and I report all of that in order to say this: Prior to disabling my drives, the Ubuntu installer saw all of my other operating systems, and it also saw my SATA drive in third place (as number 2, or "E") ... b

It makes use of a number of different techniques to solve the problems (as per usual, Linux has more than one ways of accomplishing the same thing). It makes use of the Grub bootloader, but does not replace the full Grub documentation, which can be found here :- http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual or by entering info grub on your Linux PC.
