I seem lilo error to have run into some trouble after rebooting Mandrake 9. It reboots, but as soon as Lilo is supposed to come on, it displays: L99 99 99 99 99 which covers about half the screen. I have no idea what has gone wrong. I have a dualboot system with windows 2000 and Mandrake 9. I didnt do anything of importance in my Mandrake session before rebooting except maybe trying to add a printer. After seeing the L99 99 99 99 , I ran the rescue boot or whatever lilo error 99 the ternminology is(forgive me, Im still new to linux), and re-installed the bootloader. However, upon rebooting, I get the same annoying screen: L99 99 99 99 99 99 etc. This is really frustrating as I have no idea of has caused this and what to do about it. Can anyone please help? What am I supposed to do to get my system running again? If you made a bootdisk, use that, fix /etc/lilo.conf and run lilo. Something bad happened and LILO can't continue booting. If you made the boot floppy disk during the install, or later, then you should be able to boot from that, be able to look into /etc/lilo.conf for anything funny or just try to rewrite the boot record with lilo -v. But if you don't have that boot floppy disk, you will have to try to resuce the system via other means. I don't use Mandrake myself, but maybe if you boot the first CD there will be some instructions for entering rescue mode.
