Win98 is managing Virtual Memory. The application I am writing has 23 forms of varing complexity (982KB total file sizes), 1 simple class module (6KB), 2 general modules (68KB), and 4 Crystal low on resources Report Designer reports (659 KB). I am having problems with system resources. When I load the program into VB design mode on a system with 64MB RAM, I have only 20 to 25 % System and User resources and about 50% GDI Resources(according to Microsoft's Win 98 system monitor. Running the program increases the resources to a range of 40+% System, 40+% User, and 49%+ GDI. Switching to another 333 MHz Pentium II pc with 192 MB RAM provides the same resource levels. The extra 128 MB RAM doesn't make any difference. The only programs running in the background are Outlook Express and Norton Antivirus Auto protect. Closing these programs results in a 3% overall gain in resources. Unloading VB returns all resources to 85 to 90% free. At times I have been having problems when adding code as my resources drop into the red zone, usually resulting in a system crash. Any ideas on the cause of this and possible solutions will be appreciated.
