Net Error Occurred While Windows Installer
Framework Setup and Servicing Question 0 Sign in to vote Hello, I received an error message 1935 when trying to install Symantec anti-virus on Windows 7. From the kb site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839547) I tried to install .NET Framework 1.1 but I receive the error message "An error occurred while Windows Installer was initializing. Setup will now close." I tried to fix the problem using the steps outlined here (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/netfxsetup/thread/427fb418-f70a-4290-b583-1b02eed4453b/) but the link to the .NET framework cleanup tool is dead. Can anyone tell me how to proceed from here? Thank you. Posts: 120 OS: Windows 7 I have a program I am trying to get installed that requires .NET Framework V 1.1. For some reason this program seams to only require the 1.1 version. I actually have newer version 2, 3, 2.5 on this system but not the 1.1 version. Every time Ive tried to install it, it errors out with “An error occurred while windows installer was initializing, set up will now close.” I tried uninstalling all other version of the Net Framework but windows will not allow any of them to be uninstalled. Any input on how I can get this 1.1 version installed? Remove Advertisemen

Windows 7 comes with .NET Framework 3.5.1 as an OS component. If you're unsure as to if .Net is installed you can check through Programs and Features or use the verification tool. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx 0 Message Author Comment by:MoreThanDoubled2010-11-04 No i don't have a problem with the residing installation of .Net. There is an older program that is written using the .NET 1.1.4322 framework. I tried to install that version on Windows 7 and i got the error i posted. When i checked the Programs and Features - Uninstall or change a program I dont see any >NET framwork installed (unless it is called something else in Windows 7). 0 LVL 50 Overall: Level 50 Window
