This could probably be attributed to: 1. dirty, damaged, inverted, blank, un-finalized burned CDs http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/2007-2012-nissan-altima-discussion-2-5-3-5/282284-cd-player-acting-weird.html or DVDs; 2. defective, weak, dirty/dusty burned-out laser eye/lens; 3. dirty, dried up lubrication of the slider shafting (where the laser eye's carriage moves) or some other components; and/or 4. dirty, dried up lubrication, defective spindle motor. A few things you can try: 1. Use a CD cleaner (readily available from most computer shops); 2. use a can of compressed air and blow through the inside of the loaded disc area; 3. gently tap on the top cover where http://www.fixya.com/support/t11788342-2008_nissan_altima_cd_player_says you estimate the reading/laser eye/lens would be; 4. gently press on the tray door once the disc is loaded;5. relube, clean as necessary Should this not be corrective, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional such as those in a Service Center. Alternately, your friendly neighborhood electronic shop should do just fine. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kindest regards. You can purchase one at just about any retail store for 15-20. Good to have and great preventative maintanance. If that does not work, you need a new transport, they do not repair or align lasers. Too expensive. The replacement is 100-150 with labor and a new one is under 200. My suggestion would be if the cleaner does not work replace it and keep the new one clean. CD/DVD/PC etc. all can and should be cleaned 3 or 4 times a year. Best preventative maintanance you can do. Hope this helps Posted on Jun 24, 2009 Helpful 1 Not Helpful Flag You can

Recently, my CD player stopped reading CDs. I've tried several different CDs and I continually receive the same error message. Yesterday, I bought a Memorex disc that's supposed to clean out the CD player - same error message (it doesn't read the cleaning disc)! I haven't been able to bring my car in and wont be able to until November (ugh). Any ideas of what I may be able to do to fix the problem? tknaack Visit photo album #2 09-21-2010, 06:25 PM vaugrae1 Guest Posts: n/a Mentioned: Post(s) Tagged: Thread(s) sounds like you need a new cd player. Not sure how much a factory radio is for your car, but it may be cheaper geting a radio put in by a car audio shop. I would shop around before comitting to one or the other. vaugrae1 Visit photo album #3 09-22-2010, 06:51 AM tknaack Guest Posts: n/a Mentioned: Post(s) Tagged: Thread(s) OK thanks for the input! tknaack Visit photo album #4 09-27-2010, 05:44 PM airlinepilot Enthusiast 2004 sentra 1.8s Join Date: Oct 2007 Posts: 73 T
ProductsHomearound the homeentertainmentHow to Fix a CD Changer Error 3How to Fix a CD Changer Error 3By Jason CandanedoThe multi-disc CD players are called "changers," because they change the CDs mechanically, allowing CDs to play back to back. Sometimes, these players can act up. If they do, they will usually show an error code. Error code 3 means a mechanical error concerning the laser lens and around the lens, which can be fixed through troubleshooting.Things You'll NeedCan of compressed airIsopropyl alcoholLens-cleaning disc (optional)Cotton swabsWD40 sprayScrewdriverStep 1Remove the player's screws with the appropriate screwdriver. Remove all accumulated debris and dust that might have collected in the player causing the mechanism to fail. You can get rid of this by spraying the inside of the player with a can of compressed air.Step 2Soak a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and wipe the CD player laser eye until it is free of grime. Grime on the lens can cause the CD to lock up by not being able to read the disc properly. Or, as another viable option, insert a CD lens-cleaning disc into the player and press "Play." This disc will wipe the lens clean.Step 3Inspect the player's fuse. If it is blown, the glass will be covered with a white film and the filament will be severed. A blown fuse can cause an Error 3 because it will stall the player. Purchase a compatible fuse in a retail hardware chain and replace the fuse.Step 4Ensure that the gears are fully lubricated. If not, lubricate with WD40 spray oil. If you see gear belts off of the gears, reattach them.Step 5Reattach the player by putting the screws back in with the screwdriver. Test the player by inserting several CDs in the player and allowing them to change. If they play and change without issue, the error code should be fixed.References & ResourcesAudio Media: CDRepair FAQ: Troubleshooting and
