My wife tried Outlook, was told that Norton needed to configure Anti-Spam, clicked ok and then couldn't get in Outlook. Every time I press Ctrl-Alt-Del, I notice that CCapp is https://forums.techguy.org/threads/major-issue-with-opening-word-nav-error.614198/ not responding. Just now I tried to open Norton and I got the following error message: NMain has caused an error in ASCOMPBR.DLL I'm confused. Internet can run, but very slowly and only one window at a time. Any ideas? Oh, I tried deleting LiveUpdate and reinstalling and that didn't help (as suggested that it may have been corrupted files there). :help: Back to top #2 Andrew S. Andrew S. Try to boot into safe mode and do an online scan with Trend micro. It may be necessary to totally uninstall Norton and reinstall. Lets see what the scan shows. I went with the uninstall option and am with AVG Free for now. That seems good...may buy the full version instead. What do others think? if anyone out there can help me but I posted a few hours ago and I know you guys (and Gals) are real busy out there. My Norton antivirus won't scan. I can perform a custom scan (manually selecting everything) in safe mode but http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-86085.html being that its in safe mode it would'nt catch something thats running in the background b/c only the basics load up in safe mode. Would it? I've tried several things but nothing seems to work. I got a weird error message http://en.comspider.com/q/Windows-2580/MSWORD.htm in my system logs. Here it is: Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: None Event ID: 1000 Date: 8/18/2005 Time: 9:09:02 PM User: N/A Computer: Description: Faulting application nmain.exe, version 103.0.2.10, faulting module ascompbr.dll, version 2005.1.2.6, fault address nmain has 0x00009179. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. ---> Thank You :upset: Desire is the key that opened *******'s box AnnMarieAugust 20th, 2005, 05:45 AMHi Yoda3114, ascompbr.dll is installed by Norton's antispam filter so this is a Norton issue. See NMain has caused an error in 'asCOMPBR.dll' (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/db7dbf37ab6d8b5085256eda0045925a/adcb6089728013c265256f2c007325cc?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam) Yoda3114August 21st, 2005, 07:10 PMI understand that particular problem. Thanks so much. I appreciate you taking the time out to answer. However I still can't scan anything. I have no clue why this could be but I hope someone out there does. -----> To anyone thanks in advance!! AnnMarieAugust 22nd, 2005, 02:11 AMHave you tried uninstalling and reinstalling all Symantec programs Yoda3114? If so and you still have a problem, perhaps it would be a good idea to see what is running on your PC. Go here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download/section/adware-spyware-removal) and download the latest version of Hijack This. Unzip it and click on scan. Most of the files listed will be harmless and/or required so do not make any changes, just click on Save Log, copy it and post it back in this thread. Also go here (http://www.silentrunners.org/)
