I have installed the MySQL module using pypm install mysql-python. The database engine is django.db.backends.mysql. import MySQLdb works in the interactive shell. .\manage.py syncdb created the tables with no problem. However, when I open the site in the browser, I get Error loading MySQLdb module: No module named MySQLdb: Environment: Request Method: GET Request URL: http://whatever/ Django Version: 1.4.1 Python Version: 2.7.2 Installed Applications: ('django.contrib.sessions', 'django.contrib.messages', 'django.contrib.staticfiles') Installed Middleware: ('django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware', 'django.contrib.sessions.middleware.SessionMiddleware', 'django.middleware.csrf.CsrfViewMiddleware', 'django.contrib.messages.middleware.MessageMiddleware') Traceback: File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\django\core\handlers\base.py" in get_response 89. response = middleware_method(request) File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\django\contrib\sessions\middleware.py" in process_request 10. engine = import_module(settings.SESSION_ENGINE) File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\django\utils\importlib.py" in import_module 35. __import__(name) File "C:\Python27\lib\site-packages\django\contrib\sessions\backends\cached_db.py" in

You basically have two options: Run your script using python2.7, that way you won't need to change the MySQL module. The downside is that you'll probably have to convert some code to python2.x. Look for python3.x supported modules as explained here: Python 3.4.0 with MySQL database. share|improve this answer answered Feb 9 '15 at 12:39 Sylvain Pineau 38.6k1171113 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote You have to install the module with: sudo apt-get install python-mysqldb Reference: This thread on SO share|improve this answer edited Feb 9 '15 at 12:44 RPi Awesomeness 4,950104283 answered Feb 9 '15 at 12:08 user270902 yes , it is installed. –Linus Strike Feb 9 '15 at 12:27 Yes , it was installed a module. –Linus Strike Feb 9 '15 at 12:34 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote As
