Environment Novell NetWare 5.0 SP6a Situation Error 8804 mapping drives via login script Error: "Login-4.21.15-430: The following drive mapping operation could not be completed [ROOT H:=SERVER/VOLUME:HOME\D] 8804" MAP ROOT H:=[SERVER/VOLUME:PATH\ no longer works. MAP ROOT H:=%"HOME DIRECTORY" works for one server but not another. Error: "Volume ID can not be resolved by the database." seen in DSRepair | Advanced Options | Check Volume Objects and Trustees. Resolution 1. Delete the volume in question using NWAdmin (affecting the eDirectory object only and not the physical volume). 2. Wait for obituary to clear for the object. Run DSRepair | Advanced Options |Check external references| then look for any obituaries remaining. If there are still obits, do not proceed. Give it some time. 3. If there are no obits, Run DSRepair |Advanced Options| Check Volume Objects and Trustees.Note: This will repair the problem and recreate the volume objects.Note: Users home directory pointers will be lost (on the user objects environment tab, the home directory field will be cleared. This will NOT delete the directory or data, just the pointer.) Note: Print Queues associated with this volume object will need to be recreated. Additional Information Volume Object IDs are corrupt.Formerly known as TID# 10064391 DisclaimerThis Support Knowledgebase provides a valuable tool for NetIQ/Novell/SUSE customers and parties interested in our products and solutions to acquire information, ideas and learn from one another.
