Environment Novell NetWare 5.0 SP6a Situation Error 8804 mapping drives via login script Error: "Login-4.21.15-430: The following drive mapping operation could not be completed [ROOT H:=SERVER/VOLUME:HOME\D] 8804" MAP ROOT H:=[SERVER/VOLUME:PATH\ no longer works. MAP ROOT H:=%"HOME DIRECTORY" works for one server but not another. Error: "Volume ID can not be resolved by the database." seen in DSRepair | Advanced Options | Check Volume Objects and Trustees. Resolution 1. Delete the volume in question using NWAdmin (affecting the eDirectory object only and not the physical volume). 2. Wait for obituary to clear for the object. Run DSRepair | Advanced Options |Check external references| then look for any obituaries remaining. If there are still obits, do not proceed. Give it some time. 3. If there are no obits, Run DSRepair |Advanced Options| Check Volume Objects and Trustees.Note: This will repair the problem and recreate the volume objects.Note: Users home directory pointers will be lost (on the user objects environment tab, the home directory field will be cleared. This will NOT delete the directory or data, just the pointer.) Note: Print Queues associated with this volume object will need to be recreated. [N:=\\SERVER\SYS\ABC-XYZ]The error code was c000003a.On NetWare:LOGIN-LGNWNT32.DLL-430: The following drive mapping operation could not be completed. [N:=\\SERVER\SYS\ABC-XYZ]The error code was 8804.The login script parser removes any spaces in the filename. As a result, the drive is mapped successfully if http://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7009861 a directory called abc-def (without the spaces before and after the hyphen) exists. Resolution Put the entire path specified in the map command statement in quotation marks. For example:map n:="\\server\sys\abc - xyz"With the quote marks in place, the command works as expected. Environment Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 5 Novell Client for Windows 2000/XP/2003 https://groups.google.com/d/topic/novell.support.netware.client.winnt-2x-xp/VfI0QPqT6Sk 4.91 Support Pack 2 Login Situation When executing a login script with the line: MAP ROOT G:=\:\%LOGIN_NAMEwhere is a clustered resource, the following error is novell error thrown: LOGIN-LGNWNT32.DLL -430 the following drive mapping operation could not be set Error code 8804 Resolution At the NetWare server console, run this command: nss /visibilityrebuild= Additional Information Troubleshooting:Determined that it is possible to browse to the volume object (/) via Bindery, but not through the eDirectory object. This was done by novell error code navigating through Windows Explorer, drilling down through the tree object (eDirectory) and the server object (bindery).Rebuilt the cluster server object by executing the steps detailed in TID 10094555Determined that this is a problem with the trustee rights on the volume, since it was possible to map the drive if the user had specifically been granted the supervisor right to the root of the volume.
