I am trying to get microphone input to work with Teamspeak RC2. When I go to http://www.realgeek.com/forums/directplay-voice-setup-error-166215.html Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, test hardware, I receive two error messages; "An error occurred during DirectPlay Voice Setup. The error code is 0x80004005," then "Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install." I searched and found dpvsetup.exe in C:\Windows\system32, 82KB, 8/4/2004 8:00 http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/38498-45-directplay-0x80004005-dpvsetup-teamspeak AM, but attempting to run it had no detectable effect. I searched the MS KB, and found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282882 for the latter error message, but my Hardware Acceleration is already all the way to the right. My sound chip is a "Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller." Thank you for anyone who can help! The error code is 0x80004005." When I click ok I get another message "Windows cannot execute dpvsetup.exe, use add remove programs control panel to install. My mic is not working even though its jacked into the right plug on the back of my sb live card. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks #1 innskeeper, Dec 25, 2002 LiLithTecH Diamond Member Joined: Jul 28, 2002 Messages: 3,105 Likes Received: 0 This occurred during directplay may be of help. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 282882 #2 LiLithTecH, Dec 26, 2002 innskeeper Member Joined: Sep 28, 2002 Messages: 33 Likes Received: 0 Thanks for the article, but still no progress. The article states: "This problem occurs because when you change the Audio Hardware Acceleration setting to None this removes the hardware-accelerated device from the list of possible devices. However, DSound continues to try and map to the device". I have not changed or adjusted any hardware acceleration settings. It is set to the maximum (all the way to the right). Even though this article describes the problem I'm having none of the suggestions work in my situation. Thanks anyways. #3 innskeeper, Dec 26, 2002 innskeeper Member Joined: Sep 28, 2002 Messages: 33 Likes Received: 0 I have also updated my sound card drivers and updated my version of direct x, but still no change. #4 innskeeper, Dec 26, 2002 LiLithTecH Diamond Member Joined: Jul 28, 2002 Messages: 3,105 Likes Received: 0 What version of DirectX do you have installed? Yet, when I try to get the "Sound Hardware Test Wizard" to check my sound harware, it generates the error message: "An error occurred during Direct Play Voice Setup. The error code is 0x80004005." When I click the OK button, a new message appears. It says: "Windows cannot execute Dpvsetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install." I did a search for dpvsetup.exe, on my machine, and came up with zilch. Same happened when I searched my ME installation CD. I searched the Web for anything on this file and there was virtually nothing available. How can I resolve this and restore my recording capability? Hairy, Aug 24, 2003 #2 William5000 Thread Starter Joined: Aug 4, 2002 Messages: 13 You might be right. At present, however, this is where I am at figuring out a solution: I have been able to acquire another copy of dpvsetup.exe by taking the following steps: 1. Click Start. 2. Run>msconfig>extract file. 3. Extract new copy of dpvsetup.exe from c:\windows\options\install\WIN_16.CAB. 4. I placed dpvsetup.exe in c:\windows\system.* * I do not know, if that is the right directory, though. This is one place where Me falls flat. I did not design the program. So, why leave finding the right directory to me? I will update this thread, however, as new developments occur. Hopefully, the next person will benefit from my frustrating experience!
