We do have CommVault restricting the creation of PST files, but Outlook has never displayed this error until recently. There is a registry key, DisablePST, that when set to 1 prevents new PST files from being created. It seems that when we installed CommVault, we applied this setting via GPO, as we didn't want our users to create PST files. Unfortunately, it also prevents Outlook 2007 from automatically creating a Sharepoint pst file it uses to cache information from SharePoint 2007. To fix this, we set DisablePST = 2. This has the effect of preventing users from creating PSTs, but still allows Outlook 2007 to automatically create the "SharePoint Lists.pst" file it needs to store information from its interaction with SharePoint 2007. If you want to see the pst created, it is located here: C:\Documents and Settings\

Solved Outlook 2010 pst Posted on 2011-12-05 Exchange 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 2,712 Views Last Modified: 2012-07-20 Folks, I have a user that gets error: "Outlook cannot add the folder because creating a new Outlook data file (.pst) isn't allowed on this computer". The pst file use had not been allowed into our enviromnent for ever. this user received a brand new built pc with win XP sp3 and MS Office 2010 and receved the error the second time he opened Outlook 2010, I recreated his Outlook profile on the pc and the same happened: the first time Outlook opened seamlessly, then closed it and on reopened the second time and ever since he gets the error. This error pops-up on any pc he uses. Any suggestions/ideas? Thank you DG 0 Question by:ITSUPPORT Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 7 Active 5 days ago Best Solution byGillesT As you say "This error pops-up on any pc he uses", the deny to add a pst is associated to the user. There is certainly a GPO that deny to add pst.
