When I close the Outlook Express 6, I often get the prompt "to free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take a few minutes". How do I disable this annoying prompt ? I don't want OE to compact my messages since it literally locks up my laptop for nearly 30 minutes. Also, I run disk defragment once a month. Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top SarahJames Posts: 6581 This post has been reported. Hi Amkeew, it doesn't take that long on my machine, but I also would like to disable the prompt. Don't have a clue as how to get that done, but will be monitoring this thread to see what comes up ;) Cheers, Sarah. Edit: though in my case it is in Windows Mail, since I have Vista :) Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top amkeew Posts: 661 This post has been reported. This is for Vista (Sarah, Windows Mail) I will be back with the XP fix (amkeew, OE6) shortly (hopefully). Back up your registry. I recomend this, http://mz-registry-backup.en.softonic.com/ Then in a run box enter regedit Navigate to, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail On the right pane, double click the Compact Check Count, and change the data value to 0 Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top amkeew Posts: 661 This post has been reported.
