Everytime I open Outlook Express I get an error msge telling me the program must close. Sometimes it happens when I first open the program or if I have email to recieve it occurs and when I try to close the program same thing. I always get the error outlook express error in some form, rendering the program useless. I upgraded it to Outlook Express 6 thru Windows Update and has no problem since. Hope this helps!
