Tech notes The most common cause that will trigger the P1320 code is the ignition p1320 nissan xterra coils, one or more ignition coils may have failed. Even tough the coils may be working OK, the resistance for one or more of the coils is greater or smaller that what the Engine Control Module (ECM) 2000 nissan maxima ignition condenser is expecting. Measuring the resistance with the coil out of the vehicle may not show any failures, usually the coil fails under heavy conditions (hard acceleration) or certain temperatures.The P1320 code means that there is problem with the "Ignition Coil" or the wire to the ignition coil. Clearly misfiring. Driving it would causing the flashing SES light but as the car warms up (about 15 minutes of driving) things would clear up. Getting P1320 and P0300 random misfire from the CarChip. This is getting worse as time is going on. Starting to happen every 10 starts or so. It still goes away when the car warms up, though. Same codes.I did get a P1145 code a few months ago and replaced the sensor. It went away. Also had the Left CAT code, took the car to Nissan and they reprogrammed and it went away and hasn't returned.Most of the posts point to the ignition coils but my concern is that this is intermittant. My gas mileage seems okay, and I am not experiencing any stumbling, rough idle, or any driveability problems whatsoever. The problem is that I am due for emissions and due to the code, it will fail emissions. I have replaced the plugs, coils, and the crank position sensor. All of the plugs were gapped correctly, and after each stab at a repair, the cel was cleared. After replacing the plugs+ coils, the cel returned. I took it to the local nissan dealership, and they scanned it and replaced the crank sensor. The cel came on a mile away from the dealership, and they blamed it on the aftermarket coils. The problem I have with this is that I am not getting any other code. If the coils were the problem, I would expect to get a code identifying the offending coils/ cylinder number. You replaced all 6 coils so I would start suspecting the wiring from the coils to the ECM or the ECM itself. Are you getting an engine miss fire? I have previously had the ecm flashed three years ago at the dealership for erroneous codes specifically p0430 and 0420 at the same time, the cats being bad at the same time, was a common error with this vehicle. I have changed and double checked the gapping on spark plugs I changed just before doing all six coils. Expert: Ryan replied6 years ago. Did you install factor Nissan coils? The replacement coils should have a black dot on them. These are updated coils that will not have this problem. This code is tripped when an open circuit happens between the coil and the ECM. I would check the connections at each coil. With the truck running wiggle
