Often when you host with a provider like GoDaddy, they have "Custom Error Messages" 500 internal server set to ON. What I didnt realise was that the web.config settings dont just apply to ASP.NET, they apply to all applications on YOUR IIS site and hence will sort this problem out for Classic ASP as well (very few GoDaddy support people even know this) iis http asp-classic 500-error share|improve this question edited Jan 28 '11 at 6:04 Jeff Atwood♦ 7,278186288 asked Feb 8 '10 at 10:55 Jimbo 184129 migrated from stackoverflow.com Feb 8 '10 at 12:31 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. Because the server is now ASP.NET, we have needed to employ a web.config file. A basic web.config file is fine enough for the site to run without errors, but whenever we attempt to modify this to raise the 200kb file upload limit (browser-based), the site either crashes or errors on >200kb upload. Does anyone have any tips or experience with GoDaddy + Plesk + web.config files increasing the max file size? Even a known-working copy of a web.config file in this context would be great. Sorry if this question is so pedestrian, but thanks in advance! iis upload web-config plesk share|improve this question edited Jun 3 '15 at 4:49 dimo414 20.3k775119 asked Jun 1 '15 at 21:42 PS Todd 112 "or errors on >200kb upload" ... what's the error message? –Kev Jun 1 '15 at 22:30 Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. –PS Todd Jun 1 '15 at 22:41 It's just an error 500, generic –PS Todd Jun 1 '15 at 22:56 To get real error try to do same steps(upload file) from server. Or set in IIS show error details for non-localhost clients. –Oleg Neumyvakin Jun 2 '15 at 16:03 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote This might work for other host providers other than GoDaddy but here is the solution in case you are looking for one: Plesk > Virtual Directories > Directory Properties Tab > Scroll to ASP Settings and override the “Maximum size of entity body of an ASP request (KB)" primesiteweb.com share|improve this answer answered Jun 10 '15 at 23:01 PS Todd 112 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote 500 internal server error is gener
