I've tried using the .htacess by http://php.net/manual/en/function.error-reporting.php putting the code php_flag display_errors off in there, but it returns me a 500 error. Are there any other methods that will hide all errors? php apache security share|improve this question asked Feb 11 '12 at 18:35 Frank 62941731 php_flag only works if PHP is running as an Apache module. If you're running it via CGI or something, Apache doesn't know anything about that directive, so it throws an error. –cHao Feb 11 '12 at 18:39 add a comment| http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9242903/php-hide-all-errors 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 24 down vote to Hide All Errors: error_reporting(0); ini_set('display_errors', 0); to Show All Errors: error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1); share|improve this answer edited May 15 '14 at 11:49 answered Oct 20 '13 at 9:04 Aditya P Bhatt 9,019145785 add a comment| up vote 4 down vote Per the PHP documentation, put this at the top of your php scripts: http://php.net/manual/en/function.error-reporting.php If you do hide your errors, which you should in a live environment, make sure that you are logging any errors somewhere. How to log errors and warnings into a file? Otherwise, things will go wrong and you will have no idea why. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '12 at 18:38 john.w 210311 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote In your php file just enter this code: error_reporting(0); This will report no errors to the user. If you somehow want, then just comment this. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '12 at 18:38 axiomer 1,9191025 This still reports errors such as Parse error: syntax error –Frank Feb 11 '12 at 18:49 4 Yeah..any error that happens before the script actually starts running (parse errors, syntax errors) won't be hidden by a call that happens after the script starts. If you really want to hide everything, you'd have to set error_reporting = 0 in php.ini. But frankly, if you have a syntax error, that code shouldn't be in

I have followed different tutorials on how to do this but I keep getting read and open error messages. Is there something I am missing? I have tried the following in my php.ini file: ;Error display display_startup_errors = Off display_errors = Off html_errors = Off docref_root = 0 docref_ext = 0 For some reason php error reporting when I do a fileopen() call for a file which does not exist, I still get the error displayed. This is not safe for a live website, for obvious reasons. Thanks php share|improve this question edited May 23 '14 at 10:15 FruitBreak 515617 asked Apr 11 '13 at 12:52 Jms Bnd 3552615 1 Try to explicitly set it via ini_set() function in your script. However it's a bad practice and you should catch the errors and do something with them instead of hiding via display_Errors –Royal Bg Apr 11 '13 at 12:54 I suggest running grep display_errors /path/to/php.ini to see if your line is getting overrided somewhere down the file. This is what was happening to me. –usandfriends Aug 21 '15 at 18:02 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 22 down vote accepted I always use something like this in a configuration file: // toggle this to change the setting define('DEBUG', true); // you want all errors to be triggered error_reporting(E_ALL); if(DEBUG == true) { // you're developing, so you want all errors to be shown display_errors(true); // logging is usually overkill during dev log_errors(false); } else { // you don't want to displ
