due to the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21784871/how-to-display-errors-on-mamp fact that, for some reason, PHP error reporting is turned off by default in MAMP. To enable error reporting: 1. Open up https://gilbert.pellegrom.me/enable-php-error-reporting-in-mamp /Applications/MAMP/bin/php/{your PHP version}/conf/php.ini. 2. Find display_errors = Off (around line 277) and change it to display_errors = On. 3. Restart MAMP. Voila! You should now see PHP errors. Everything worked great, and I was quite amazed at how wonderfully designed this app is. BUT, like the others who have poosted this bug... I get the error: "Error: Could not connect to MySQL server!" php error So I removed MAMP, and installed it again. Unfortunately, the MYSql server will not start. Only the Apache server initializes. Any clues on this.. Thanks. razorx Posts: 1Joined: Sat Jul 23, 2005 12:39 am Top by franwu » Mon Jul 25, 2005 1:59 pm Hi, I just installed MAMP, and got the same error. Then I checked the index.php file under the /MAMP/bin/mamp/ folder, and found that it hard code the msyql connection username/password as root/root. If you changed the default mamp php error root password (of course for security), you can modify the code in index.php to test MAMP. It worked for me. good luck, franwu Posts: 1Joined: Mon Jul 25, 2005 1:39 pm Top by kkhipple » Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:06 pm I also get the same error. however i was never given the opportunity to change the root password. so i dont know what the default is. can anyone help? kkhipple Posts: 2Joined: Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:05 pm Top by kkhipple » Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:24 pm kkhipple wrote:I also get the same error. however i was never given the opportunity to change the root password. so i dont know what the default is. can anyone help? i was able to get this working by launching MAMP and going to Preferences-> Port.
