I personally like having a separate log file. But some people use network monitoring tools and they only look at Event Viewers or SysLogs. –NeerPatel Nov 14 '14 at

I use phpmanager to configure php. The php Ini is correct with errorlogging E_ALL and display_errors enabled (error is writen to log also). I already set the errorMode to Detailed from DetailedLocalOnly and removed all errorpages as well. But it is stil the same Error 500... At the moment whenever we have a PHP error the server sends back a 500 error with the message "The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred." This might be a good setting for production websites but it's rather annoying on a development server... ;-) I have tried configuring php.ini to php error log display errors to the screen as well as log them to a specific folder but it seems that the Server catches all errors before and prevents and handling by PHP... Does someone know what we have to do to make IIS display PHP errors on screen? Usually this is enough to display these errors in IIS 7. Next, take a look at your IIS settings, as it may be set to only show error messages locally. In the IIS 7 configuration editor this is under system.webServer->httpErrors. You will need to change errorMode to Detailed from DetailedLocalOnly. Obviously this now means anyone browsing your site will be able to see the error. Alternatively, if you want to keep them local you can RDP to the server and run the app from there, if you
see the error message. Which makes debugging and finding the error a lot more difficult. I have checkted my php.ini settings and all seems good. What could the problem be? And while we on the subject, but a bit off-topic. Every error in .NET just gives a 500 error. And I must RDP and run the site locally on the server to get the actual error. Is there a way to turn that off? Might also be realated to PHP error above? But it is only for .NET module errors, normal errors show correctly. I can't tell you why the screen is coming up blank. If there is an error thrown on the web server it should normally show what the error is. 500, 503, 404, etc. To fix the error in ASP.NET go check your web.config file and look for how it is reporting errors there. Most likely you have it set to remoteonly which is useless for debugging. this article has some good info on how to set up for debugging purposes, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/h0hfz6fc.aspx btw,
