Cable is Plugged into the Router ADSL Port" during initial genie setup. -AND/OR- The "twisted pitney bowes error code de1d cable" line LED remains unlit or blinking and never turns solid. Resolution Verify that the filter is properly connected. Note that pitney bowes postage meter troubleshooting p700 phones should be connected in the socket labeled "phone" in the filter while your NETGEAR gateway/router should be connected to the one labeled "ADSL". If there are many phones or fax machines in your house, make sure http://support.pb.com/ekip/index?page=rate_change&id=FA2744 they are all going through filters similarly. Make sure that the phone cable coming from the socket labelled "ADSL" in the filter is plugged to the respective grey port in the NETGEAR gateway/router. The yellow ports should be used exclusively for local wired devices like PCs or printers. You can verify that the line is synchronizing by looking at the "twisted cable" line LED in the front display. It will blink green while trying http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21992/~/dsl-troubleshooting---error%3A-no-dsl-cable-is-plugged-into-the-router-adsl-port to synchronize and remain solid green once synchronization is complete. The "globe" internet LED will remain red until you finish setup. Once the line LED is solid green and the internet LED is solid red you should be able to continue the genie Wizard setup. Additional notes If the "twisted cable" line LED remains unlit or blinking and never goes solid this could hint at an issue with the filter or the line, or that the internet service hasn't been activated yet in your phone line. Verify that all devices connected to the phone line are going through filters first, and if the issue persists contact your service provider for a line test and to verify that the service is active. Do note that after the line is detected you may need to enter your internet username and password. This is not the same as the gateway/router password, and it should have been given to you by your internet service provider company. NETGEAR Support has no access to this information. You should contact your internet service provider company or refer to the documentation they provided if you do notknow your nternet username and password. The DSL modem connects to the computer via an ethernet card. Recently, I had to uninstall it and re-install. Since the reinstall, I have not been able to re-establish my DSL connection. When I boot the computer, I get a socket error 100019. I contacted AOL and they said it was a windows problem. They told me to call Dell. Dell said it was an AOL error having to do with my AOL provided Ethernet card. They began to tell me to re-install TCP/IP to see if that would clear it up but they did not know how to do that with 98SE. So, I have 2 questions. 1) Why do I get the socket errors and how can I prevent them and 2) Are these errors preventing my DSL from connecting. Any help would be appreciated. I seem to be playing "stump the band" so far.
