Alex Keh - Product Manager-Oracle Feb 24, 2015 4:47 AM (in response to dpcodi) One of the features (or limitations) of COM is that you cannot have two COM components of the same name active at the same time. Since Oracle OLE DB is a COM component, it adheres to this principle. To accomplish the goal you have in mind, you will have to alternate which Oracle OLE DB instance is the "active" version as described here. Raviraja-Oracle Feb 24, 2015 7:27 AM (in response to dpcodi) Hi,As of 10.1, OraOLEDB can now be installed into multiple Oracle homes simultaneously, but only a single version can be active at any given time due to the nature of COM objects in the registry. To use a different version, the Oracle OLEDB provider dll (oraoledbXX.dll) must be re-registered via REGSVR32.exe, which renders the previous version inoperable. This is done auto

The OS is windows 2003 (x64). I want to connect oracle using 32 bit application. I already tried SQLConfigDataSource and oledb provided by oracle, however none is successful. For oledb the connection string I have used is as follows: pConnection1->ConnectionString = "Provider='OraOLEDB.Oracle';Data Source='orcl';User Id = 'system';Password='xxxx';"; I am getting error : Error Code = provider cannot 800a0e7a Code meaning = Unknown error 0x800A0E7A Source = ADODB.Connection Description = Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed I have registrered the oracle oledb using following command. regsvr32 OraOLEDB10.dll The dll registered successfully. However, I am getting the same error. Please help me. This can be caused by an incomplete upgrade or a bad install of the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) components. RESOLUTION Here are two ways to resolve this problem: Register the Msdasql.dll using the following command: REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ole db\MSDASQL.DLL" Reinstall the Microsoft Data Access Components used. The newest version of MDAC can be downloaded from the following Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm STATUS This behavior is by design.
